Clomid Advice

I am going to try to make this short as I have a lot of questions.  I am 25 years old married and going to ttc here really soon.  I am overweight (about 50 lbs) Everyone tells me loose weight it will be better and I know it would but its not that easy.  Anyways my DR put me on metformin and Birthcontrol (to regulate me until I wanted to concieve (conceive) with clmoid 100 mg 5-9)  The metformin make me REALLY ill.  I stopped taking it (feel like a failure)  I am worried now that if I odnt loose weight or take metformin I will just end up with a miscarriage.  (Read it in a magazine)  I guess I am looking for support suggestions anything.  When I get medical insurance  I will be trying for a baby.  Please if anyone has any advice anything I would love it.  Anyone in the same boat, or was in the same boat?  Thank you!:-)

WOW!  Thank you so much.  So you were never on metformin? Thank you for the kind words...No one else understands.  Not even my DH sometimes.  Was there anything special besides the clomid that you did to get pregnant?

Metformin is not only used to get pregnant I believe but for regulating PCOS...at least that is what the specialist I am seeing said to us...On my third cycle with clomid we got pg but m/c and clomid made produce a polyp...I had it removed and this month we will try again with clomid.  Good Luck and ask your dr if they suspect you might have PCOS

i was in same boat. about 8 yrs ago i went to dr b/c i was ready for a baby. i have always been overweight. we started all of the testing leading to diagnosing infertility. i found out infertility was not covered by my ins. and dr said fees started at 400.00/mo. and could take several months. i became very discourage because of the financial setbacks. we decided to wait. in 2003 i went to work for a company that covered infertility but my dr discouraged me b/c of my weight. i told him i had always been overweight and every year seemed to increase a pound or 2 so now was as good a time as any. he referred us to a spec and we did testing again and i went on clomid 100mg cd 5-9. the first month we were pg and my ds will be 2 in jan. i say go for it. you never know unless you try. dh i think if we had proceeded 8 yrs ago we might also have an 8yr old also.

I got pregnant the first time using clomid. I was a healthy weight and clomid worked on the first round. 2 years later I was about 20-25lbs heavier and started TTC with clomid again. After 3 rounds we were unsuccessful. I started a strict diet and lost 10 or 15lbs and went on clomid again. Worked for me on the first shot again. This is just my experience. I have a gf who is very overweight (70lbs) and had not problem TTC. In fact got pregnant on her own the first time she tried. So it really depends on your body. Good luck to you.

this is what we did to get pg, i took clomid on cd 5-9 and we bd cd 11-21 EVERYDAY! now i know most people and drs have said every other day, we did it everyday. the 1st cycle of clomid i was pg w/ds. when we were ttc again (2006) i took 5 cycles of clomid and 4 of them we did the same routine and were pg. 3 times ended in m/c. right now i am pg and keeping fingers crossed, so far the numbers have been good. the 1 time we varied our strategy we did not get pg. this last time dh and i were watching a program on discovery and they stated coffee helped get the sperm going. dh would drink cup of coffee about 30 min before we bd. this was the strategy that has worked for us. the m/c are hard to deal w/ but we have to try, otherwise my ds would more than likely be an only child. at least try.
