Clomid and Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor

by ripdip, May 20, 2004 12:00AM
Hi there,

I bought the expensive clearblue easy fertility monitor the $200 kind.  I was clocking my cycles for 3 months.  I have lutenal phase defect so I need progesterone.  I'm going to go on clomid this month and wonder how it will effect the monitor.  Will it still give me high days and ovulation days or will it go right to LH surge?  Any experiences appreciated.

I bought the same one.  I used (and continuing to use) it for 2.5 years.  It showed me that I was ovulating.  The past 2 months I was on clomid and nothing!  The monitor showed that I  was on medium for 7 days and no "egg."  I have heard that it is not so accurate for a women who is taking clomid.  The progestrone, which I was on for 5 months, didn't effect the monitor's results.
I have heard that it is best, while taking clomid, to use the ovulation predictor sticks.  You can also get more information regarding your Clear Blue Monitor on the Clear Blue website.
Good Luck.

i hate to tell you this but clomid scews with fertility monitors. not sure why or what might cause it but my RE said to ditch the monitor while on clomid because they aren't very accurate when using clomid.
he suggested using clear blue OPK instead.
good luck i hope clomid works for you

fertility monitors didn't work for me on clomid, neither did OPK's.
you can try, but definitely don't use it until 3 days after you last pill.
good luck!!

Thanks for your comments, they were very helpful.  Basically my strategy will be 3 fold.  Use of fertility monitor, OPK testing, and just plain ole' do it every other day.  Scary how you could miss ovulation on an ovulation drug ?????????????????????

You are right about the clomid it does interfere with the monitor results but it also tells you this in the pamplet. Mine did pinpoint the peak time for fertilty  but the whole month it was on high until peak. keeping faith.
