Clomid and Prometium help

I am having difficulty conceiving after a miscarriage and am looking for other peoples experiences with Clomid and Prometrium.
    I start spotting 2 to 6 days after I ovulate, and when I say spotting I mean heavy dark brown almost flow.  In the past two cycles, I have tried 200mg prometrium daily after ovulation still spotting.  Next cycle 50 mg Clomid days 5-9, 200mg Prometrium days 14 to 28 still heavy spotting.  Now this cycle my dr told me to take 100mg Clomid days 5-9 and Prometrium 200mg starting day 12.  Everything I have read about Prometrium has said to take it after ovulation, but my dr said to start on day 12.  I asked her nurse that I have read Prometrium can prevent ovulation why would I start on day 12?  She said that is the way the Dr commonly prescribes it.  Has anyone had a similar experience? I would take the Clomid on days 3-7 and start the Prometrium after ovulation, but it's been a couple years since I was TTC and my info might be kind of dated.  Are you taking the Prometrium for a luteal phase defect? You might try posting your question on the infertility forum- tons of knowledge over there regarding Clomid and Prometrium. Good luck.
