Clomid/miscarriage query

Clomid/miscarriage query

It was confirmed today by blood test that I had indeed had a mc (only 4 weeks pregnant) - I had very bad period pains and bleeding for two days but had hoped for the best because I had light bleeding/brown discharge pretty much from date of conception.  My query is that I have irregular periods and I am on medication to bring on my periods and then on clomid for four days from day two of my period.  I am firstly wondering when to start taking the medication again and secondly I note you are not meant to take clomid when you are pregnant and I am scared of getting pregnant then it being too early to tell when I take the pregnancy test before I take clomid so therefore taking clomid not knowing I am pregnant....  I have asked my GP who says he does not know the answer and I need to ask the consultant at the hospital (who I can never got hold of!) I am really confused about what to do next for the best, I want to get pregnant again ASAP.... any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks x

Hi!
Since you had a miscarriage and have irregular periods, chances of this recurring are moderately high. First the cause of irregular periods has to be found and corrected. High level of stress, dramatic changes in your life style, high cholesterol, hormonal imbalance as seen in thyroid problems and PCOS, chain smoking, may be some of the common causes of your irregular periods. Cushing’s disease and disorders of adrenal gland, tumors of the ovaries and adrenals, insulin resistance and obesity are some of the other factors. Prolonged use of oral contraceptive pills is another cause. Once the cause is corrected then, only if the cause is hormonal, taking pills to regularize the cycles will help. Also clomid is usually taken from the second day of cycle. So there is no way you can start it if you are pregnant.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your gynecologist regarding this. Take care!
