Clomid side effects?

by diggy, Apr 07, 2004 12:00AM
I took 50 mg of clomid this cycle for the first time and for some reason I still have not ovulated (I am using an ovulation monitor).  I am on day 18 today and no "O."  I have been using the monitor for over 2 years and this is the first month that I haven't ovulated... unless I ovulate extremely late this month.  Usually I do between days 13-16.
Has this happened to anyone?

I used clomid last month (100mg) for the first time and I ovulated later in my cycle.  I don't think you can expect to ovulate until at least two days after taking your last clomid.  Even that is a little early.

thanks- so maybe I will "O" tomorrow- which would be 2-3 days later than normal!  I took the 50 mg of clomid days 5-9.  I spoke to the Dr. and she said that next month maybe I need to increase my dosage to 100mg.
So this is your first month on clomid??

I believe that if you are taking Clomid the fertility monitor is not accurate.

Really?
Cuz the ovulation monitor has been telling me that I have been on "Medium" for 8 days now!  Usually only 2-4 days.
If it is inaccurate- that is good to know!!
Thanks.

i was told the same thing.  I have a fertility monitor too and the specialist that put me on clomid said he preffered i used an opk. he said that in his experience the monitor isn't as acurate with clomid.  also i am also on the 50mg dose and i used to ovulate around day 12 - 13 now i ovulate on day 15 -16.  so i hope that helps and i hope clomid works for you.
good luck

What is the OPK?  And where can I get it?  Expensive?

diggy: Ditto to what everyone said.  My RE specialist also told me not to use my beloved monitor and to use the OPK (Ovulation Perdictor kits.

Thank everyone!  I have a feeling that I must have missed the big "o" by now then... but my hubby and I have been busy every other day just in case!
I will stop by the drug store today to pick up an OPK anyway!
That makes me feel better to hear that from y'all!!
