Clomid

by AveryG, Sep 08, 2007 02:26PM
My husband and are trying to get pregnant again. We have a 16 month old daughter that we got pregnant with after 6 months of trying. We have been trying to have our second for a year now without any luck. I am 20 years old and was wondering if Clomid would be okay to take at my age. I believe we are having problems with getting pregnant because I only ovulate 3-4 times a year. Please tell me what you think!!

Did you go to OBGYN for help? You don't think they will not want to put me on this since i'm only 20?

Yes...you have to get a prescription for Clomid.  When I got off of the patch in December, I did not ovulate at all.  She would have to give me progesterone shots to make me start my periods.  In June, I still wasn't ovulating but I wanted to get pregnant, so she put me on Clomid.  I don't know what your Dr. is like, mine is very proactive and understanding.  I have been married for 4 years and she has seen me the whole time.  I am guessing that since you want to get pregnant but are not ovulating, they have to do something to help you ovulate.  Let me know what happens.  You should make an appt to see your Dr.

I made the appointment to go on Tuesday. Thanks for all the advice. I'm hoping everything will work out. Whenevr I was on birth control I had regular periods and they said if I took birth control for a year it would regulate my periods but it never did,

Yeah me too,,,but the thing with birth control is that you don't ovulate at all when you are taking it.  I hope it works out...let me know what the Dr. says!

What is a  progesterone shot?

by peekawho, Sep 09, 2007 12:11PM
A doctor will tell you if Clomid is appropriate for you or not.

Progesterone is the hormone your body needs to be able to start your period.  Most people produce enough naturally, I did not.  You can get it in a shot or take it by mouth.  I agree with peekawho that only a Dr. can tell you if the Clomid and Progesterone are appropriate for you in your age and situation.  I can only tell you what happened in my experience.  Good luck to you.

Did you have to get any shots or did you just take clomid?

by Trudy80, Sep 09, 2007 11:07PM
I personally wouldnt think clomid would hurt you being that you are 20.  I would strongly only recommend consumption on ob/gyn recommendations.  I took clomid to try and fall preggers for 3months but it never worked for me and was then put on the self injections....2.5 years later and 1 mc I have a healthy beautiful 3month old Isobella Grace.  Best of luck with trying.

Is there a high risk of multiple birhts with Clomid?

by lucy82, Sep 10, 2007 02:47PM
There is a 10% increase in the chance of having twins.  I found out today that I am for sure having ONE baby!  We heard the heartbeat and we are so excited!  Let me know what the Dr. says on Tuesday!  Most of my friends who took it only had one baby, I know of one friend of a friend who is having twin girls from Clomid.

I went to the doctor today, She agreed Clomid would be a good choice for me but she wanted to take some blood first. They took my blood to make sure it is not anything seriouse since I am not having my periods reg. I go back in 3 weeks for the results and to get this started!!!
