Col Meat

Col Meat

Hi I was just wondering is it alright to eat cold meats ie; cold chicken, ham, beef, any cold meats, and even left over cold meats that were cooked the night before.

The caution is against deli meats, that sit, sliced, in a case and might get listeria on them.  I haven't heard this same caution against home-cooked food, especially if it is eaten soon after being cooked.

Yeah thats what I was also wondering about, because I love those cooked chooks that you buy in the deli that are just sitting in the heating oven, and my fiance reckons that there full of bacteria and shouldn't be eating them, is that true? are they really that bad? or can I continue getting them, cause every now and then I just love a hot chicken roll.....mmm!

what i was told was to stay away from the deli meats that are processed like ham, salami, balogna ect.  eat the turkey sliced off the bird rather than the processed kind.  i buy oven roated turkey from the deli, but man i need a big fat italian sandwich!  i have had a rueben sandwich but the pastrami is heated.

The reason they say to stay away from cold deli meats is the chance of listeria.... I've eaten subway cold cuts through my whole pregnancy, and I'm fine.... You have to have a pretty low immune system to get sick from that stuff though.

in pregnancy your hormones cause you immune system to become suppressed making it harder to fight off infections.  the odds arent high of getting sick, but the risk is there.  you have to do what works for you, ask your dr.   i have no idea what a chicken roll is! lol

And listeria won't make you sick, it makes your baby ill.
