Could I be pregnant this fast?

by blueeyedenglish, May 11, 2009 05:04PM
Hi all,
My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years, and I have a 9 year old daughter going on 10. I got my copper iud 6 weeks after she was born. In april 09, I was having spotting between periods, which never happens to me, and abdominal pains. I went to the doctor, and they said everything seemed normal, but that the iud was probably ready to come out. They also gave me a pregnancy test to be sure, and it was negative. This was april 25. The first day of my last period was april 7, and my boyfriend and I had sex  from the 29th until the 2nd of May.( he lives out of town) I got my Iud removed on May 7, thinking that was close to my period, and now it's the 11th and I don't see the faint pinkish discharge I usually get before it starts to actually flow. I'm on a 32-34 day cycle, and have been pretty consistent. Technically, my period is only 1 day late, but I have abdominal cramps, not menstral cramps, no breast tenderness. I wonder if any one had an idea as to if a fertilized egg can implant after iud is removed? I am going to wait until the 15th to take a hpt, but I wanted to know if any of you had an idea as to what may be happening? I seem to be really curious lately about pregnancy which I haven't been for 10 years. I would be happy to be pregnant, but equally as satisfied if not since we actually didn't plan.

If you had sex on the 2nd of May at the last, and did not remove the IUD until the 7th, you are not pregnant unless the IUD failed while in place.  It is not unheard of for a person to get pregnant with an IUD in, but it is not common either.
