Could I be pregnant?

Could I be pregnant? I’m on the pill, but have been on & off antibiotics for the past 2 months or so. This month I was on antibiotics in the first part of my cycle (just after period) and using withdrawal as extra precaution.  I'm now five days from my period and my breasts are very tender and a size larger, I’ve been gaining weight (had been already for a few months... gone from about 52kg to about 56...) feel slightly dizzy & tired & very sensitive to heat. Is it likely that I'm pregnant? For future reference, what are the risks of getting pregnant under these circumstances?

As far as I am aware, use of antibiotics does not interfere with the mechanism of the pill.  However, the pill does have a failure rate of up to 3% which means 3 out of 100 women will conceive while on it.  If you think you might be pregnant, a HPT will tell you in another week or so.

You very well could be I would take a at home test or make an appt. befor yopu get 2 worried but to my understanding I know of 2 things not to take while on the pill the first is St. Johnswort  its an herble med this is how I had my daughter onthe pill that is why its my first example the second is antibiotics this is how my best friend had my god daughter so I would test or call a docter and even ask them this question there are free nurse lines that have 2 answer your ?'s good luck

You could well be as antibiotics can stop the pill from working. (it should say on the instrusctions) I'd say wait and see if you get your period and if not take a htp. I know its hard for the wait but only some tests will show up bfp a few days before. Hope you get the result u want!

Antibiotics to interfere with the pill -i would test.  you could very well be preggers

My sis was on the pill when she got pregnant with her son now 2yrs, At the time she was on the pill but taking antibiotics. She was told my the doc that antibiotics can stop the pill from working. The only thing i can suggest is wait and see if you get your period nxt month and if not take a hpt. The tests normally give you a result at 6 weeks. GOOD LUCK.

My bad!  As some of the other posters have mentioned some antibiotics DO interfere w/ the pill.

Hey all, thanks for the advice... took an early pregnancy test, which came back as negative, but only 4 days before period due... so will have to wait for conclusive results... will post to let you all know.
