Could Someone PLEASE help

by AngieC26, Aug 15, 2003 12:00AM
My sis in law went to the doc. yesterday, had an internal ultrasound confirmed a 6 week pregnancy, and saw a fetal heartbeat.  She got results of her bloodwork back and was told that her progesterone levels are low and must start a med. immediately. (not sure of the name) please let me know if you have experienced this and if miscarriage is inevidable?
Thanks in advance!

Angie, i hope the best for your sis.  That's good that they saw a heartbeat.  What was her progesterone level? Mine started at 9.9 then went to 9.5.  I started on prometrium right away and it went up to 19.  My HCG levels were rising the whole time, but mine turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured in my tube.  i had surgery on wednesday..it was all very strange though.  Are her HCG levels rising nicely and all that? I hope and pray that everything works out well with her! Kellie

kellied thanks!
I am not sure what her levels were, all I know is she had to get on this progesterone immediately, which scares me.. I want to call her, but I do not know if she really wants to talk about it, or what I could say. her pregnancy isnt tubal, it is in her uterus, I just hope that maybe this works.

Thanks for your advice, and by the way, I am really sorry about your loss, my thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Angie, i think it's an awesome sign that they saw the baby inside the uterus and saw a heartbeat.  From what my perinatologist told me the progesterone will not help a pregnancy that has already failed..but it will actually prolong the inevitable..but with her seeing a heartbeat, it sounds like maybe it just needed a boost and the progesterone should help.  i will say a little prayer for her baby! My best goes out to her!!! HUGS! and THANK YOU for your support!

My doc put me on Prometrium due to low progesterone levels and I was on them for about 3 to 4 weeks.  I am now 20 weeks pregnant and so far the baby seems to be healthy.  Good luck to your sister, I hope everything turns out okay.  Keep us posted.
