Curious about something

I have a question.  I read something on this forum that confused me and maybe you could clear it up for me.  I read a couple of questions and responses with women talking about how their cervix felt.  For example:  She said her cervix felt more open.  How do you know this and what can you tell by knowing how your cervix feels?  There was another thing I read that said that her cervix felt wet but most of the time it was dry.  I didn't know you could feel or tell anything about your cervix.  Am I missing something?  We're trying to conceive and I'll take any suggestions.

some people think that cervical position and moistness will give fertility signs, others do not.  once you start the "self exams" you can definately tell the difference between an open cervix and a closed one, a wet one to a dry one.  It is something that can make you nutty.. Your hands have to be clean before you do it..  At least try it once just to see what you got in there!!!!

haha this reminds me of a funny story.. I took human sexuality in college and one of our assignments was to go home and look at ourselves in the mirror and FIND our stuff.. :-)  There is no shame in knowing your body inside and out!!..

Do you know what the different things mean?  For example, if the cervix is open, what does that tell me?  Or if the cervix is moist, etc.?

I suggest you get the book Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It will explain everything. Cervical Mucus changes during your cycle and is mostly like the consistancy of egg whites during your most fertile phase. If you are checking your cervix you will feel a bump, like the tip of your nose. When you are mostly fertile it will feel softer, like your lip,  and you will feel an little "hole" opening. It will also be a bit higher and harder to reach with your finger. Its never actually "Dry" because there is aways an amount of vaginal fluid but after doing it for a few cycles you will see the differences.

Hope this helps!

Yes, do read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".  You shouldn't have any questions left after reading that.  Also, you'll be amazed at what you didn't know about your own body!  As far as cervical issues go, you are fertile when your cervix has "SHOW", which is Soft, High, Open, Wet.  I was never very good at figuring this stuff out, but if you can it will probably be helpful to you.  Good luck!

Yes, it takes practice but once you do it a few cycles you will see your bodys patterns. Along with charting your temps, CM it raises your fertility awareness and gives you a better idea when your most fertile time is.

Its frustrating if your signs are not really clear so it takes practice!!
Good luck to you!
