Cystic hygroma (Fetus)

Hi all :) this is my second post in here im all quite new to this, i am 14wks preggas and my lil angel has been diaginosed with a cystic hygroma the promblem i am having is the lack of infomation on this subject has anyone had a child or know of anyone who has had a cystic hygroma that i could talk too?  i feel like my questions are not being answered e.g can they tell in the womb if its beguien or malignant?? is there any chance my baby could die after birth? i dont fly up and she my specialist until next month im so confused please help

It's considered a benign condition unless it blocks or compromises the airway, and is operable and has a good prognosis unless not all the parts of the hygroma can be removed.  Obviously a lot will have to be determined based on the future development of the baby.

Thanks annie ive read that article i find it some what helpful but not completly, it doesnt help with the questions i have, im sure my specialist will have more insight thank you

my daughter had that and when she was born it was gone and she is a healthy two year old. Some times it does take care of its self. Did they mention the genitic problems that can go with it>>

heya yea ive had a cvs 3 weeks ago and the karotype is normal they found fluid on bubs neck, brain, heart and kidneys so im really worried that there could be more complications

Take a look at my page for information on this condition. I wrote a journal about this subject and it has links to different websites with more info as well. Most of these cases are on the head/neck region, but not all of them. If it is on the head/neck, it may compromise the airway and you would need to have an exit procedure done when you give birth. Otherwise, it shouldn't be much of an issue. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
