D&Cs how many?

by par123, Jun 21, 2007 12:00AM
Hi all,

I have a question regarding D&C. So far Ive had 3 D&Cs and this concerns me about my future pregnancies. I wanted to know if anyone is out there who have had 3 D&Cs and still went on to have healthy pregnancy. At the moment I am so depressed and this just is another excuse to keep me awake at nights.
Thanks for your help.

First of all I am terribly sorry you have had to experience that 3 times. I have only had 1 and pray to god I never have to go through that again. I just wanted to send my well wishes to you and I know what 1 d&c can do to ones broken heart, let alone 3. I am sure there are successful stories of this same situation.

Being that you have had 3, is your Dr. taking any different measures with you to see what may be the problem? If not, I would request a pathology test or something else to pin point what may be the cause.

Again, I am very sorry. Take care & God Bless.

I have also had 3 d&cs in the past. It is really hard. I know exactly how you feel. Anyway, I am not sure how it affects the lining and pregnancy, but I will tell you that I am pregnant now and so far so good. Although, I have never made it past 7 or 8 weeks. I have one child and lost the others. 3 of them required d&cs. I am not sure if this is why I cannot carry one longer or not. I guess this time I will see if I can make it past the first trimester with this one. I am sorry for your losses, keep us posted.

Let me first say I'm really sorry for all your loses; it is very hard.  I myself also had 3 D&C.  Well the last D&C I had in Jauraury I never got a period after that.  Because I'm 39 and had 3 prior miscarriage I decided to go see an RE.  My RE sent me for an HSG test and it showed that I had a blockage in my cervix; which my RE told me it's caused by too many D&C's; they are called adhesions or scar tissue.  So I then had a Hysteroscopy & Laparoscopy and they removed the adhesion caused by the D&C's and he also discovered that I had a septum uterus; which he said was one of the reason why I was miscarring.  He fixed everything when he was in there - Thank God.  I am now able to start trying to concieve again.

I would recommend you go see an RE...what would it hurt?

Good Luck

Debbie, when you say you never got your period do yo mean you didn't even bleed immidiately after the D&C? also, did you have any pain or sign that indicated something was wrong after the D&C?

Sorry... I did bleed a little after my D&C.  I realized something was wrong after I didn't get my period after 2 months.  With my first D&C it took 6 weeks for my period to come and the second one it took 8 weeks to come; this last D&C my period never came.  I had all the symptoms of getting my period, but I wasn't bleeding.  So once they did the HSG they realized I had a blockage.

I am so sorry for all of you who have had to have this procedure as a result of a miscarrige.  I am 29 yrs old, single and no boyfriend at the moment.  I have had 3 D&C's in the past 5 years and I'm getting ready to go in for my 4th.  Im getting scared, my doctor talks about cancer, endomitriosis and the possibility of not being able to have children.  I'm here looking for some support and answers to questions I don't yet have.  I have read up so much on endomitriosis ( I think I spelled that wrong), apparently there is no cure.. I just recently also got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and this seemed to alarm my OBGYN.. I'm just looking for some support, any words of encouragement of knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
