DD #1 going to high school :(

DD #1 going to high school :(

My eldest DD (who will be 12 years old next month) starts High School tomorrow.
It hadn't really hit me before last night- it always seemed so far away and like it wasn't really happening-  but now it's just one sleep away and she'll be all grown up....I feel so sad.
I was ironing her name labels onto her school uniform last night and I had to dry my eyes a few times. Maybe it's all these pregnancy hormones that are to blame again.... or maybe I just don't like the idea of my babies growing up :(

I know this isn't really a question, I'm just having a moan and I know you ladies will make me feel better.

I have a 28 week growth ultrasound today so I'll post again as soon as I can but may not be until tomorrow as my appointment is quite late.

darn them pregnancy hormones eh? that is sad i think its another stage of your daughters life that is leading her into adult hood! my dd is only going to start pre-school in november and i am dreading that already! i will have my ds at home still but its the fear of the unknown for me and putting my trust in a stranger to look after my child. i think the time between baby and teenage goes so quick and the more children you have the quicker it gets, my ds was one just over a week ago and i honestly felt gutted that his first year went so quick, i guess with baby no 3 it gonna go even quicker again!

I just don't think it ever ends...maybe it is worse during pregnancy.  I jut sent dd to K, and was a mess!  I cried during orientation, when I ordered uniforms, and wailed while walking out of her classroom the first two days.  I hope it gets easier...I am still not used to having her gone all day, and find myself not knowing what to do....like my whole system has been thrown off.  I cannot possibly imagine how I'll do w/high school.  It is a stepping stone to adult hood.  Hopefully, once these babies come, we'll have too much to think about, and won't have time to ponder our first borns growing up!  I feel for you, it is such an emotional time!

I also just sent DD to K-garten August 20thi held it together that day but the night before i cried. i got it all out of my system. now when we stop having kids and the last one starts school i will be a mess the night before and the day of:( its amazing how fast they grow. My oldest, youngest sister sterted her senior year this year and that was pretty sad too.

My good friend Denise put her son onto the school bus on his first day of school, no problem.  She put her middle daughter on the school bus on her first day of school, no problem.  She put her last daughter on the school bus her first day, went into the house, and bawled her eyes out.  :)  That's what a mommy is for.

Thanks everyone :) I knew I could rely on you. I don't feel so alone with all of your similar experiences.
She's gone to meet her friend to catch the bus together a few minutes ago and I actually don't feel too bad. She looked so grown up in her uniform as they have to wear a blazer which they don't do in junior school.
High School starts from grade/year 7 which here is age 11-12 ish and you leave high school after grade/year 11 and go to college (or stay on at a sixth form) from 16-18 and after that university (aaaarghhhh!!!)
My youngest is also starting at our local infant school nursery this afteroon part time, but it doesn't feel half as bad. She used to go to pre-school for 4 hours a day when I was working full time so this 2.5 hours a day doesn't feel so much of a biggie....although it will when she puts her little uniform on I'm sure!

Doesnt matter what grade they are in. DS just started 2nd grade, and on the first day of school I still kinda tear up. They get so big so fast. I just know that im gonna wake up one day next week and they will all be in college lol

Kids in Europe start/finish HS younger than in the US (I grew up in Russia and I was done with HS when I was 16).
Ruthie- Even though my DD is years away from HS (she'll be only one in a couple of weeks), I still know how you feel b/c that's how I'll feel when she goes off to kindergarten, junior high school, high school, college, etc.  I already cry when I see the things she does and how much she's matured.  I hope you feel better soon.
