Is Dandy-Walker Syndrome a genetically spread disease?

Short Stuff,

Here is what info I was able to find on this syndrome.

A family history of autosomal recessive disorder is indeed a risk factor.  Autosomal disorder is defined as a genetic condition caused by a defective gene carried on a non-sex chromosome (a chromosome not used to determine sex).  Also discovered that use of a drug called Isotretinoin, trade name Accutane which is a med. used to treat acne, during the first trimester is also a risk factor.

I got this info by searching a number of different Dandy Walker Syndrome web sites, until I tried searching for Dandy Walker Syndrome Genetics.  In that search, a pediatric database was listed, and that is where I got this info.

Hope this helps,
Shelly
