Dangerous Cribs

I just wanted to let everyone know that I just found out that certain cribs from Simplicity and Graco got recalled due to them being potential "death traps". They recalled over a million of them because of the resulting deaths of 3 children. The different models are: Simplicity Aspen 3 in 1, Aspen 4 in 1, Nursery-in-a-Box, Crib N Changer Combo, Chelsea and Pooh 4 in 1. Graco: Aspen 3 in 1, Ultra 3 in 1, Ultra 4 in 1, Ultra 5 in 1, Whitney and Trio.

I just wanted to let everyone know because I just got the Aspen 4-1 and now I'm going to send it back and get something different. I dont care that they are "fixing" the problem the fact they had a problem and were on the market is what upsets me. That and the fact that if I hadn't seen the article she'd be sleeping in it in 2 months! I am just so shocked.

Are those the ones that were recalled bc some people put the rail on upside down and it allowed for a gap? That was the most recent ones that I heard of. Hopefully everyone will check it out and have  safe babies.

I have no idea. Maybe... just something about sufficating they didn't say what was actually wrong with them. Stupid newspaper!

We actually have one of the potentially recalled Simplicity crib.  I guess the issue is with the side of the crib that drops down, and the clips that hold it at the bottom.  If you have the "old style" (photos on their website) you need to contact them for new clips, but if you have the "new style" you're fine... as long as (like tmv said) you make sure that you don't have the rail in front on upside down.  (Which, I thought was amusing, since the top of the rail is decorated and thicker-- and matches the other 3 sides!  Who would put it on upside down?)

Anyway, make sure you check the website about your Aspen 4-1... if it's like my Simplicity, there may be nothing wrong with your particular crib.

Weird that people would put the railing on upside down you would think they would realize.
