Decreasing Hcg level/ Partial miscarriage

by Syl16, Jan 14, 2005 12:00AM
I was transfered triplets through IVF on December 21. Hcg level on January 5: 2692, January 9: 3526, January 11: 3200. Ultrasound on Jan 11 showed one aparently normal sac. I've been having light spotting until 1/5, heavier and severe cramps since that day and passed pregnancy tissue and blood since the 11th. Is it possible that the embrion that was left be still alive and the tissue belonged to the other two embrions?

I would think that would be possible.  I have read ladies comment about how you could miscarry a twin and one could still be just fine.  I hope everything is ok.

Oh yes!  It is very common.  My midwife does not like to recommend a D&C for this very reason. There might be a twin hiding.  One miscarried and the other left.  Go to this web-site.  Go to Coco's posting.  She is pregnant and had the same exact thing happen to her.  I wish you well.  Let us know how it goes.

One week after finding out i was pregnant, i had light bleeding.it got "heavier" the next day, though not what i would class as heavy for a period, just worrying for a pregnancy. I went to the hospital and had blood tests which showed positive indicating no miscarriage had occurred, then had a scan but this showed no sign of pregnancy. I was told that this was merely because the pregnancy was so early being ony 6/7 weeks, and booked in for more blood tests and another scan 48 hours later.I was told the scan still showed no signs of pregnancy but not to worry as it was too early. I phoned the next day for the blood test results and the Hcg levels had dropped slightly, the after another 48 hours they had almost tripled and i was given some hope, though warned an ectopic could not be ruled out. Another scan a week later and i was told again there was no evidence that there was or ever had been a pregnancy in my womb, yet my tubes did not look abnormal. Less than half an hour later i saw a docter and was told pregnancy tissue WAS found in my womb in the scan the week before, as well as this time and i was not notified. The docter said she did not believe this was the baby as it had reduced in size, but i am uncertain as to whether it could be possible this tissue was merely scanned at another angle causing misinterpretation of size and feel that there maybe some chance i am still pregnant and the doctors got it wrong, after all, they aren't always right. I am looking for anyone who has experienced or heard of anything similar or the same as my condition and would be extremely grateful for any information. Please get in touch if you have any knowledge of this subject. Thank you.
