The hormones going crazy will make you depressed occassionally. I had some depression through my pregnancy. Just try to go out for walks as much as possible as the fresh air will make you feel better.
Are you depressed about something in particular or are you just feeling depressed generally?
Nataliesmommy is right..Call you ob right away. Our emotions are all so crazy. I was very depressed when I found out I was pregnant. While my husband was telling family. I was in bed just crying. I to did not know what was wrong. So many things going thru my mind. Money, job and my other kids. I never gotten to enjoy the great news I was carrying. My doctor assured me that it was going to pass. And of course it did. I am 19 week expecting my son finally. Keep in touch we are all here to read and repley to your thoughts....God Bless
Depression during pregnancy is common. Talk to the doc. If they try to tell you nothing can be done, see a specialist pre-natal doc. My regular OB told me I couldn't take any medications (allergy, depression, asthma meds etc.) during my pregnancy, and AFTER it became a high risk pregnancy and my care was transferred to the specialists I found out I didn't have to stop taking ANY of my medications, and in fact was put back on my Zoloft. The specialists told me its the safest one to take during pregnancy. Don't be upset if you need some medicinal help. The need for the medication goes away in most women a few months after childbirth, right around the time most women are past the rish of post-partum. It all has to do with your hormones being crazy, and will go back to normal, but you should NOT suffer in the meantime. If the depression is interfering with your daily activities like you said it is, then you need treatment and fast or it could actually harm the baby if left unchecked.
I am 19wks on Thursday and I get depressed a lot. I worry about everything and everybody. It is driving me up the wall. Well I go in for another appointment tomorrow so I think I will say something to my doctor. I was diagnosed bipolar way before I ever got pregnant, but knew I would probably get pregnant so I stopped taking meds before hand.
Hi, just wanting to let all you beautiful pregnant mums out there know I suffered from depression and severe anxiety from about 5 months pregnant. The doctor put me back on the anxiety medication I was taken off when they founds out I was pregnant ( Aropax). They only put me on a low dose and I think for my size at the time it didnt really help. I saw a counsiller almost every week and she helped me a lot, just to be able to sit and cry and talk for an hour was great. It was the hardest time of my life, most days not even being able to walk my daughter to school without having panick attacks. The panick attacks went on all day long through the whole pregancy, then on top of that I worried all the time about what the stress and medication were doing to the baby. Anyway I had my gorgous son (now 2 ) and after the birth I had only a little depression, probably just normal amounts, still on a slight dose of Aropax but the moral of this story is MY baby was born happy and healthy. So please if you need to take meds during pregnacy and the doc prescribes them for you take them and try to relax a little, it will all be fine in the end. Make sure you talk to someone if your feeling down!!
I take medication for my anxiety and related depression that I will not quit taking due to my pregnancy. I am 16 weeks. If you have a good doctor they will work with you to discuss whether the benefit outweighs the risk and adjust the medication and dose to one that is safest for baby. You will feel so much better in the end that you were able to enjoy your pregnancy and with the risk of postpartum, I would think it would be safer all around. Good luck and I hope things start to look up. I will be praying for your peace and for the right solution to come to you.
