Diabetes during late pregnancy

Diabetes during late pregnancy

Hey Everybody!
I am 36.2 wks pregnant and last week my doctor tols me I had to go for a sono because the baby might be getting too big. I went for the sono this morning and the baby is 7.14lbs and 20" long. The doctor is sending me for the 3 hr glucose tolerance test because even though my glucose test at 26 wks was normal he is concerned I might have diabetes now. I am really worried because he said the baby might have high levels of sugar if I am diabetic now. Has anyone had a big baby and normal glucose levels???

Well, depends what you consider a big baby.  I know people that have had 10lbs babies and not had gestational diabetes.  I had gestational diabetes and had a 7lb 10oz baby.  If you do have GD then you might be induced early.  Having a big baby is not the only worry w/ GD.  You should talk to your dr about the other concerns which I am not going to get into because I think they may come across wrong and put worry where it is not needed.  Eat healthy.  Stay away from sugars, carbs and anything that comes in a box!!!  Portion control is important as well.  Good luck and happy healthy baby blessings.
