Dialation????

by Rosie Face, May 29, 2006 12:00AM
I'm new here, I was just wondering how many cm you're suppose to be dialated when you start going into labor. I'm almost 3 cm and my due date is 6-14-06

you can stay at 3 right untill your due date and plenty after not a worry your not in labour untill your contractions become frequent enough to dialate your cervix with in a short amount of time.

well technically once you are 1cm you are considered being in labor the early stages of labor. When i was supposed to be induced for my baby i thought i was 1cm dilated and was 3cm dilated and was having contractions and i was definately in labor. SO as far as i know being 3cm dilated you are in labor just early stages of it unless you are having contractions. And previous poster is correct you could still be 3cm way after your due date some women stay a certain cm for months.

With one of my pregnancies I was dilated to 4 at 36 weeks and still had to be induced at 40 weeks. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you are dilated.

I stayed dialated 2 centimenters from 34 to 37.5 weeks.  I went to the ER at 37.5 weeks because I felt funny and the nurse broke my water.  I asked her why and she said you are 6.5 centimenters and your baby is on its way.  I was shocked because I wasn't in any pain.  2 hours later my son was here. No meds no stitches.
