Diaper suggestions

Hello everyone!!   I want to start buying diapers but have no idea what is good and whats not.  How many newborns do I need??
Also wanted to tell you guys that my baby shower ended up turning out great.  My mom came and is having a great time.   We haven't disagreed once!  Amazing!  :)   She leaves tommorow and I"m actually sad because I realize how much I like having her around!!   Hope everyone is doing well!

when I had my son I started out with Huggies and about 2 months into that I changed to Pampers. Pampers are great and so are Luvs. Luvs are actually alot cheaper than Pampers or Huggies and work just as well. I plan on buying Luvs for this baby when he/she gets here.
Really what you buy is going to be your personal choice. All diapers are different and all parents are different also. Try maybe buying a couple of the smaller packs of each one until you figure out what you like the best.
Hope that helped.

I used  White Cloud they were nice because of price and also did not leak.  I didn't like LUV's had a smell to them for me.  I did like Huggies they are nice but more expensive.  But it is personal preference.  I also tried Toys R Us Brand and did not like those at all.

Don't buy alot of newborns, I had an almost 8lb baby so she was out of them in a month.  I would say two or three packs and do not open them until you need them because you can take them back unopened.  I got alot for my shower so I used all different kinds of brands.  Fortunatley she was not allergic to any of them.  I did not like white cloud but may give them another change the package I got was bad.  The tabs tore off when you were trying to put them on.  I buy walmart parent choice but I also buy Kroger diapers.  I like the Kroger generic diapers the best.  They are soft and do not leak.  The walmart diapers aren't as soft.

I think like the other posters that it is a personal choice thing...but I love the Pampers Swaulders..they are the best to me...if you don't have coupons try Sams for the big boxes....cruisers start in size 3 and are great also....my favs....I wouldn't buy to many newborns unless your baby is small....size 1/2 in the Swaulders from Sams worked great for my DS after the first week or so of newborns.......for cheap diapers I liked Target brand....you may have to try out a few brand to see what you like best....glad your shower went great and your are enjoying your mom:)

hi im glad you asked this question with all my kids i have had to use huggies  and that's just because my children all got a rash from the blue part in the diaper so not sure what im going to uses as huggies have now put a blue leak elastic around the leg which is causing a rash with my three year old at night so if any one knows of a diaper that has no coloring in it that would be great just in case this one on the way has the same problem

Glad your shower was fun.

I use cloth almost exclusively, when I do use disposable I usually opt for the store brand.  I find pampers have perfume in them and that makes me sneeze.

I loved Pampers newborns and the swaddlers, but HATE the cruisers. I actually called to complain about the quality of the cruisers and ended up getting 2 -$10 off coupons. Not a fan of the LUVS because they don't stretch, I am most likely going to find myself back to Huggies Supreme for a while. I never find one diaper i like the entire time. Seems like each stage requires me to find a new diaper, they all fit differently, they move differently and eventually Pampers causes my kids to develop bleeding rashes!

Don't buy a lot of any one kind at a time, you may also find you want to try a different kind with each size change.

When my DD was born she was under 8 pounds so I used Pampers Swaddlers or Huggies Newborn.  I've tried almost everything.
I prefer Huggies because they are he only ones that don't leak.  I ONLY like the Huggies Supreme though not any other kind of Huggies like Gentle Care EXCEPT Huggies Overnights but that doesn't start until the baby is at least a size 4.
I do use Pampers Cruisers, and I do like them too but I HATE Pampers Baby Dry, go figure.
I guess Huggies are a bit more expensive..... I've never ried Luvs and I've never tried any store brands.

The only diapers that I found that did not leak on my son were Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers.  Every other brand I tried leaked while he was sleeping.  I know they are expensive but after changing sheets and clothes several times a night, I didn't care what it cost to get that under control.  Huggies were the worst about leaking for me.

i only used pampers swaddlers until my son was MAYBE 2 months old. he was a big boy and outgrew them fast. actually, i find that the huggies brand are the most effective for my son. when my mom watched him, she uses her pampers and they tend to leak. he is now almost 4 months and in size threes. another thing i find is that the size can vary with the brand. your baby may outgrow huggies size twos, but pampers twos may fit fine. its a try and see kind of thing. i wouldn't buy more than 3 or 4 of the newborn packs though, cause you never know!

I am in love with Pampers Swaddlers. They are SO soft, and we didn't have any leaks or anything attributable to the diapers (just the people that put them on and were afraid to make them semi-tug, so the diaper would hang off and if she had an explosion, well ... you get the picture, but that was person-driven, not diaper-driven)! We used them for our foster daughter the year that we had her, and we have already started stocking up for this baby (I am six months along) ... we figured that since we were used to spending the money each week, we may as well keep purchasing the diapers so we have a good stock when she is born and we won't have to buy any for quite some time! Best wishes!

I'm six months also...due Aug 18th with a boy.  We also want to start now buying diapers and wipes every week so it won't be so much of a shock when he comes.
Thanks to everyone for the advice!!

I also used Swaddlers for my newborn, and then moved on to Luvs for sizes 1-6. They are affordable and the best thing about Luvs, I think, is that 'diaper' smell. It has a light scent of baby powder, and I've noticed that Huggies brand do not. That's just me, I think a good smelling diaper is important, it hides the smell of whats inside, LOL:)

i found pampers better for my 2 ds and huggies was best for my dd.  my 1st 2 babies were 10 lbers, so neither of them fit in newborns...lol! don't buy more than one pkg of newborns...start buying a few pkgs of size1 and 2.
