Diapers that really stop leaks? Do they exist?!

Diapers that really stop leaks? Do they exist?!

Ok, this question has been asked before, but.... do you have any suggestions for diapers that really help stop leaks?? My son is starting to "go" less frequently now, so when he does it's usually a blowout. His leaks are almost always out the sides, not up the back. As much as I enjoy scrubbing poo out of his clothes (eww!), I'd love to do so less often. We currently use Pampers Swaddlers. I have tried Walmarts "Parents Choice" and "White Cloud" but I'm not that impressed, and they seem so uncomfortable (not soft.) Suggestions?? Thanks!

I used pampers swaddlers just for the first few months and then on to the cruisers.  They help more active babies stay dry - I have a girl so maybe this is why but I never had leaks.  Well I should not say never.  Maybe 1 poo diaper that was just too much poo in the past year and a half.  So it did happen but just once.  NO FUN getting those onsies over their head with poo on it.

My daughter is now 19 months and she is starting to train so she holds her pee, when she does go it is a lot of pee - very heavy diaper and the diaper still holds it.

If you don't want leaks on the sides, don't bother with Huggies.  Once they get some pee in them, they sag down.  We started calling them Saggies.

Be sure to pull out the inside liner behind the ruffles when you put on the Pampers -- after the dipe is on, hook your index finger into the diaper on his butt and pull out, so the inside elasticized lining is not folded back inside the diaper, but is actually on his little cheek.  Do this on both sides.

I've been using Diaper Doublers for my son at night, and they do help.  Safeway sells them and so does Babies R Us.

Usually when they start leaking like that its a sign to go up a diaper size. My DD is notorious for leaking when its time to change size of diapers. She has a big butt!!! Only weighs 22lbs and wears size 5s!!! and has been since like 9 or 10 months

i assume you are referring to those lovely breast milk poops and not pee?
here's what i ended up doing. As soon as i saw her make a poop face or if i heard that awful noise (you know that squishy, shooting noise, right?) i grabbed her and RAN to the changing table. As I ran, i stripped her clothing off, hoping i got it off before the poop blew out. i layered papertowel on the changing table, and i always had many extra changing table pads on hand. i'm not exaggerating by the way. once i heard the noise and took off. I got her clothing off and everything. as i made my way down the hall i literally watched as the poop crept up and out the back. we used to call it liquid evil.

so basically, i have yet to find a diaper that holds breast milk poop. pampers were much better than huggies- it seemed like the huggies didn't work fast enough to absorb any of it

Thanks ladies!!

Tiredbuthappy, you're spot on w/assuming I was referring to breastmilk poo! omg, that stuff travels! I had to lol about your story. :) I agree about the huggies, I have been least impressed w/those despite their 'guarentee' to stop leaks.

Darkestlight- good tip, that makes sense... I will get the next size up next time. thanks!

Anyone ever try Luvs?? I never hear anyone talk about them...?

My son leaked right through 7th Generation.  I was so disappointed because they are made without bleaching the absorbent material.  But they just didn't hold that much pee.  Maybe it's a boy thing.

I never had a problem with the huggies, but my son has a really small little bum! I think it all depends on the shape of your own child's body- my sister's son is a little chunky and the pampers brand fits him perfectly w/ no leaks.
