Different Two Week Wait/Open Forum

by amy524, Apr 15, 2006 12:00AM
Good morning!  Good luck to everyone out there in the 2ww!  I remember how stressful that time was.

My two week wait is different...but equally stressful...DUE DATE!  April 30th is my EDD and time just seems to be creeping by so slowly!  I am trying to take advantage of my last "me" days, but I'm so anxious to meet my daughter and so anxious about the labor (first time) that it consumes me!  I am done working now, by my own choice, and I have a hefty "to do" list to keep me busy.  Must be nesting!!

I was up ALL night Wed. with diarrhea and my doctor made me come in to be checked because that can be a pre labor symptom.  After spending two hours hooked up to monitors at the hospital yesterday, they sent me home.  I'm not even dilated yet and my cervix is still closed.  Guess that means I have more time!

If anyone would like to share their labor stories, I'd be interested to hear them!  I am so anxious about the whole process and I'm trying to soak up all of the information that I can.  I have been having uncomfortable Braxton Hicks that I thought FOR SURE had at least started the labor process for me and was disheartened that they weren't strong enough to do anything.

How did everyones labor start?  How did you know for sure?

Thanks!

I know exactly how you feel about the waiting.  I had my first and only baby in 6/2001 and it was soooo exciting.  I went about 4 days past my due date and had pretty much given up on going into labor naturally.  I just knew that they were going to have to enduce me.  Then, on June 12th, I woke up at about 4am having cramping pains.  I figured it was just Braxton Hicks (since I hadn't had any) so I got up around 5am as usual to go to work.  I arrived at work around 6am and the pains kept getting stronger.  By the time my co-worker came in at 6:30, I had realized that I should probably go back home and get ready to go to the hospital.  So I drove back home and calmly woke up my family (mom and siblings were there from out of town)and my husband had not left for work yet.  Everyone was so excited and rushed to get dressed while my pains continually got worse.  We went to my doctor's office probably at around 9am and he checked me to discover I was only 1cm.  I was very suprised.  All this pain and only 1CM!!  At that point I knew I was going to need drugs.  To make a long story short, after 3 shots of Demerol and an Epidural (around 3pm that day), the pain was finally over but my labor wasn't.  I didn't have my baby until 7:13 the next day!! That's 27 hours of labor.  This is my first month TTC again since then, I guess it took me a while to get over the pain :-).  I'm hoping this time will be as easy to conceive as the first was.  Good luck to you and I hope everything goes well with the delivery.  Be sure to let us know.

If you want to jump start your labor, I would just take a lot of walks, go shopping. I had the same thing happen to me, and they just sent me home after it too. So, I went shopping, was on my feet all day, I went into labor the next morning. I had my son that evening at 5:30pm. I recommend getting a epideral too. I enjoyed my birth much better with it. Why be in pain if you can relax. Your DH and family will enjoy you more too. Good Luck on the birth of your daughter.....Hugs to you~~~~~~~~~~

my experience with labour started on my sond's due date at 4 am... which was funny, because the whole pregnancy i said "Just wait, it will start at 4 in the morning....."
Water broke at 3:52 pm, i was sleeping and it felt kinda like when you (sorry, TMI) pass a small clot during your period....
I was soaked, the bed was soaked, stood up and then the carpet beneath me was soaked... put on a heavy duty pad and went to the hospital...
They had to induce me the next afternoon at 2:30 pm (after i had been leaking water for 34 hours, mind you), the induction was difficult, the contractions were pretty fierce (felt like REALLY bad menstral pain - no back labour thank god).  Had the epidural at 4:30 pm (after 2 hours of labour).  At 7 pm we were ready to go, but then my son floated back up and stayed there until 10 pm.... started pushing around 10:30 pm and he was born 15 minutes later...

At the moment I have 1 child (we are trying for #2 but have had 2 miscarriages in 5 months, we have't given up yet!!!) For the last 3 months of my pregnancy his head was down into position, But I was only dialated(sp) to 1 for the last month. My edd was 4/20, starting on 4/16 I said I want this kid out, I was all out front!!! I went into the Dr's office so they could attempt to strip my membranes. I guess there is a good chance of your water breaking when this happens, but no such luck!!! On Monday, 4/19, I went into the Hospital for a 6 hour procedure called Gelling (I am sure that is not the Technical term), Once again, this is supposed to get contractions going. I had mild contractions until the gel wore off, about 6pm that evening. So on 4/20 (my EDD) the Dr. tried to strip my membranes again!!! VERY PAINFUL!!! Did not work, but got me dialated to a 3. Finally on 4/21 They decided to induce me. I started Pitocin (sp) at 7:30a, they broke my water at 9:30a (Weird!!!), Epidural around 1:00p, After 4 bags of Epidural I threw up on my Husband (all water) Finally Fully Dialated!!! at 6:30p, started pushing at 7:30p and my DS was born at 8:13p. Trenton Robert Brooks, 9lbs, 3oz & 21" long. The Dr.'s said he was only going to be 8lbs, The Dr.'s told me that next time they will induce 2 weeks early. That's my story. :)

Thank you for sharing your stories!  I really do enjoy hearing all of them.  I think I lost my mucous plug this morning.  I was in the shower and a blood tinged goop of something fell to the bottom of the shower!  I know that doesn't mean labor is necessarily close...just another sign it's beginning!  :)  Good luck Tristan's mom with TTC!  Hang in there!
