Does my daughter have infantile spasm/west syndrome?

Does my daughter have infantile spasm/west syndrome?

My daughter is 10.5 month old. Just recently she has frequent incidents of teeth clenching andhead shaking side to side uncontrollably for 1-2 seconds.  her limbs also seem to be quite tense when she does it.  there are 3 to 5 episodes a day, in each episodes there are 3 - 4 bursts

So far she seems to have developed normally, and reached most milestones a 10 month old baby is supposed to do, such as babbling, sitting, standing, crawling etc

We have an appointment of EEG in 3 weeks, but what can I do to help her? Is it quite serious?

If they are infantile spasms, yes, its very serious.  Can you videotape the episodes? I would be uncomfortable waiting almost a month for an EEG.  Perhaps these are some other type of seizure disorder?

Or perhaps they are something else entirely.  I would think if your ped saw videotape of the episodes, if he/she thought they were infantile spasms, they would get you in for an EEG on an emergency basis, right away.

Its good sign that she's developing normally thus far, though.  As I said, perhaps they are not spasms, but something else entirely.
