Does small baby/toddler mean small adult??

Does small baby/toddler mean small adult??

Jacob was born 6lb4oz and has stayed in/around the 25th percentile.  Often closer to the 10th.  DH is 6'2" and I'm average, but I have some real shorties on my side of the family.  DH and I were both really skinny kids, so the weight thing doesn't surprise me, but I can't help but wonder about the short thing??

If your baby/toddler is small, does that typically mean they will grow up and be smaller people?

I was wondering this same thing myself.  I meant to ask the ped last time we were there but forgot.  Izzy has always been in the 70% or greater for height which is weird because I am "vertically impaired" (5'1") and my dh is just average height (5'8").  I am really hoping Izzy gets a couple more inches than I did at least!  Grandma's family(dh side) does have taller girls though so I am hoping she got those genes!!  I am really curious about this!

My nephew who was always over 100% is still a big kid at 2.5y and my niece who was always below 5% is still just a peanut at 2.5y!  But they are both still growing so who knows how they will end up!

I am wondering the same thing.  Our Anna was born in the 50th percentile for height but at her last appt was in the 15th percentile.  I am pretty short (5'3'') and dh is average.  I hope she starts growing more but she remains pretty short for her age...

yeah, I was hoping some of the veterans would have some personal experience on this.  If yall talk to your dr about it, please let me know what they say.  No big deal of course.  hahaha get it.. no "big" deal... :)  Just curious.

on babycenter.com they have a height calculator.. dont know how accurate it is but i did it and it said jadyn will be 5'9" lol travis is 5'10" and im 5'1" you  put in the babies age and height and your height and dad's height. but if your looking for a technical answer you'll probably need a "veteran" like you said lol

addison is lucky to be in the 5th %.  SHE JUST MIGHT STAY smaller.  my ds was 8lbs7oz 3 weeks early and at 10 yrs is 5'2 or 3, and never ever has stopped growing lol. a dr said once to double their height at age 2, but i dont know if that is the day they turn 2 or the day before 3 lol.

i wouldnt worry a bit right now, i was a small baby and was always the smallest in class.  i am about 5'6.

my bff's 16 yr old ds was always ave height then he turned 12 and grew like mad.  now over 6' at 16.

I was an average baby, one of the tallest girls in my class around 3rd grade (i hit a growth spurt/puberty early), and now quite short (5'1").

My 4th daughter was a HUGE baby---9 pounds 2 ounces. But now at almost age 12, she is the second smallest in the whole GRADE, not just class. She is thin and short and people always think she is about 9.

Also, my 3rd daughter was a normal weight baby--7 pounds 14 ounces. Up to age 12, she was TINY. She was always behind two years in clothes sizes--if she was age 4 she wore a 2, age 6--wore a 4, etc. But at age 12 she caught up and is a totally average weight and height. 98 pounds and 5 feet.
So in my experience it really doesnt mean much what weights/heights they are as a baby.

My oldest boy was in the 10th percentile for a while before moving into the 25th.  He now is 6'4".  His pediatrician at the time swore that he would be a small adult and look - he turned into this giant so I'm not sure what impact the height/weight is at this point on future size.

My mother told me that double measuring height at 2 years old gives an idea of height but I think it's an old wives' tale.

I think there is no way of knowing! Keep in mind that Shaquille O'Neal was only in the 7 lb. range at birth, and um, well, he's no shrimp! My oldest daughter was 9.4 at birth and is no where near the tallest in her class.  She is 5'2 at age 13, and I don't think she'll grow much more (and I am tall myself, at 5'8" and Dad is 6'0")  But her smaller sister (8.10, i know, not really small!) is VERY tall, likely to hit 5'10" I think!  There is no logic to it.

I was a big baby 9lbs 10oz and I was always a little shrimp growing up (until 6th or 7th grade). Now I am 5'5 and struggle with being overweight so I think it all just depends.

DB was an 8lb baby and was always little for his age, he sprouted up to 6'2 when he was in middle school.  I think a lot of boys are like that.

I've always been a freakin' monster... lol

I was like 10 lbs when I was born... always at the end of the line in school, always stood with the boys at class photos.... I hated it! I always stuck up like a sore thumb with my tiny cutsie girlfriends in school.... but then in highschool and college I started liking it... I reached 5'10" when I was in early college and became a model! yay! (I managed to loose some unwanted weight...) and that end really quickly..... I put it back on and now I just live happy with my height.... I still have trouble finding nice pair of jeans that are all the way down below my ankles, but I've come to terms with my height and weight (I'd still like my pants to be looser....).

Maddie is in the 95% height, but only 50-75% weight.... hmmm.... she's not too chubby... but she's a tall baby! =), now dh is about 6'.... but his best friend's baby (the one that is Maddie's age, pictured in one of my profile's pics) she is about Maddie's height, and probably some oz's heavier... and I'd be surprised if both her parents hit the 5' mark! lol those two are petite! (they look like collectibles! lol cute and little...).
