Does symptoms disappearing signal m/c?

by ougirl, Dec 19, 2006 12:00AM
I am now 7 weeks and up until about a week and a half ago I felt pregnant (tired, cravings, very hungry, sore breasts) but have really lost my symptoms. This happened the last time I was pregnant and I lost the baby at 9 wks even after hearing a strong heartbeat. We saw a flutter on an u/s around 5wk 5d, but the loss of symptoms makes me think it could end in another m/c. I am also on 200mg prometrium twice a day for which the side effects are breast tenderness, bloating and tiredness - similar to pregnancy symptoms. I am a little bloated, mostly from constipation, breasts are tender but not really full anymore and tired but gave up caffeine so.... I wonder if the baby is still developing or if I am just suffering symptoms from the prometrium. My hcg level at 5wk 2d was 7800 and progesterone was 22. Hcg had doubled in the beginning but was starting to take more time to double but Dr. said that was ok since we saw the flutter. Any thoughts on symptoms disappearing? I really just do not feel pregnant anymore.

I'm 12.5 weeks pregnant and I still don't feel pregnant.
I was worried too. One day my breasts would be sore and for the next 2 days they wouldn't be sore at all. Same with being tired. I wasn't always tired. Some nights I was wide awake. but everything is okay with my pregnancy even though my symptoms came and went.
Please don't worry. I worried, and asked for an ultrasound. that gave me a piece of mind.

I just had my HCG levels done.  I am between 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 weeks and they were 3,454.7  Your levels sound good.  I pray all is okay.

Blessings!

Thanks. I have actually had 2 ultrasounds since my first 2 pregnancies ended in m/c. I found a great new Dr. who didn't make me wait until 8 wks given past history. I had my first u/s at initial appt. and I was only about 4 wks. When my hcg didn't double, he brought me in the next day for another u/s at 5wk 5d just to make sure. That's when we saw the flutter and actually got the dating. LMP was 10/15 but my cycles usually run 5-6 wks so I didn't conceive until 11/15. I wouldn't be questioning if this hadn't happened before. Last time around we had a heartbeat of 160 at 8wks and a week and 1/2 later it had stopped. Same thing happened, I lost all my symptoms so begged the Dr. to do an u/s. I don't have any bleeding or cramping now. My first m/c was a missed m/c and the 2nd m/c I cramped about 2 wks after the baby died but never passed anything so had to have a D&C both times. I probably wouldn't be concerned if I had never had any symptoms. It just seems weird to have them, then have them all disappear. I have been losing some clear fluid, but nothing that looks like m/c. Next u/s is a week from tomorrow, just seems like a year from now.

don't worry-symptoms are so fickle and I don't think they mean a thing.  I know many who have had symptoms disappear around that time and they were perfectly normal and healthy and still pg!  It is hard, but try not to read too much into this.

I had the same thing happen to me at 9.5 weeks--suddenly I felt so absolutely different, I was certain that the baby had died and I was going to miscarry.  My b/f, rather than listen to me lament the possibility of this happening, spirited me to the midwife and she found the heartbeat with a Doppler and said it was very normal for the symptoms to decline and change during the pregnancy.  I hope your baby is ok, just remember that this happens to lots of women!!  Good luck!
