Dollar Store Pregnancy Tests

Ok I just want everyone's opinion on this.  I am a little afraid to be hopeful.  I am 14 dpo. and I decided to take an HPT this afternoon.  I used the $$ store brand.  Well a faint line showed within ten minutes.  The line is still there because I wanted to see if it would fade and its definitely darker than any of the evap lines I have gotten in the past.  Has this happened to anyone with this brand and they have gone on to be pregnant.  I have been TTC for 2 years and have had 3 miscarriages so I have been on clomid for the last two cycles.  What do ya'all think???  Shouldn't it be brighter if I am 14 dpo.???

everyone told me a line is a line. Even some of the tests I've used (not the dollar store one) but like the Target brand - it says even if the line is light or lighter than the horizontal line or the test line - it is still a positive.  Try another one if you want - but hoping, hoping, hoping for you that it is positive!!!  yeah!

As long as the line came up in the allotted amount of time...a line is a line.   But, if you want to be absolutely sure, i would wait until tomorrow morning and test with your FMU.  That way you could be sure.  I've only ever used the cheapy..and they've never steered me wrong.  They all test for the same hormone..so why not spend less!

I used the dollar tree HPT and got a faint positive 5 days before AF was due. (luckily i bought a lot) because I retested for 2 more days to be sure... it came out darker the next two days. so I then called my Doc for a blood test to confirm...they said it was too early to test... and I said then just humor me and call in orders (I work at a lab). They did and it was positive also.

A line is a line as long as it came up within the test time.  I'd retest tomorrow or the next day using first morning urine as another poster suggested.

The dollar tree tests are just as good as any of the other tests.

yeah...i heard that a line is a line ... so congratulations... you might be pregnant already...

i just like to thank everyone in this forum for mentioning $$Tree OPK & HPT... boy did u save me a lot of money!!!! im still ttc but at least i dont have to spend so much on those OPKs... hahaha

Also- if you go to saveontests.com they have tests for SUPER cheap. Cheaper than the Dollar Tree I believe. Thats what I got my bfp with friday, saturday and monday morning. Doc confirmed it yesterday. Due May 24!!

I've never got a evap line from the dollar store brand and I've used them A LOT! It sounds like a positive but I would test again in 2 days!! Good luck :)

I took a dollar store test and nothing showed up, so i was finishing up in the bathroom( at first I was kinda relieved because we were going to a music festival, so I was at least happy I could drink over the weekend), but one minute later i looked down and there it was my BFP.  I swear by them now, I wouldnt be any other brand...they are so cheap!

There must be something wrong with those DG HPT... I always only get ONE line!!!!

I used to work there and one of the cashiers bought a couple of them to see if she was pregnant.  She got a dark line, and another faint line.  Having used plenty of them myself, she showed it to me and asked my opinion.

I told her that she got more lines, albeit a faded second one, than I ever got.  She laughed then cried, then laughed.

At last count, she was doing okay.  And pregnant.

Oh well, one of these days, maybe... I'll get two lines.

Test agian with a Doc, but Congrats sweetie.  Sounds like you're expecting...!!!!!  My opinion is if a test is trying to detect HCG - and It picks up the hormone,  I don't think it matters how cheap it is.  I would count more on "false Negatives" with cheaper tests.

I went against my word and used a dollar tree test last night and it was a BFN.  You inspired me to try it!  Oh well, AF is due for tomorrow and I usually don't get BFP's until after I miss AF so I'll try again tomorrow.  I should have waited until this morning to take it but I was just too anxious!

I'm still waiting for my shipment and then I'll test, I don't have a lot of hope though, because we weren't really trying! But who knows? The first time I got pregnant after 6 months of really hard trying, the second time - we had sex only ONE single time and it ...just happened. Can you believe that???

i stocked up on the DG tests.  if you go on peeonastick.com they are said to be very reliable.  i got my bfp on one and havent taken one since!  you cant beat the price. and you dont feel as bad if youre an addict :)

Dollar Tree HPT's worked for me, too. I bought about 7 of them, and used them up over a 4 day period. The line started out faint the first day, and by day 4 it was very dark. Never got any evap lines either. I even tested in the evening (around 4pm) one day (after not using the bathroom or drinking anything for at least 2 1/2 hours)...and it still came up a dark positive without using FMU. And it always took at least 8 minutes for the line to show up (which the time limit is 10 minutes I think?).

So this is probably a BFP for you, too! Congrats!
