Drinking Water

by sarubers, Oct 27, 2006 12:00AM
This may sound like a stupid question, but do you think Propel is as good as water? I am a tiny person (5'4" and 110lb.) So drinking a ton of water is almost impossible. I hate drinking water. Hate it. I have managed to drink three 16.9 oz. bottles of propel a day. I guess I am feeling a little guilty about not drinking straight water. What do you guys think?

i would think that would be ok? Just a lil flavor right? I hate drinking water too! But i'm trying to drink my share each day too.

No not at all. It is great for you actually. Just make sure you watch that you aren't drinking stuff with too much sugar in it. Also, there is nothing worng with drinking carbonated water with a lemon or lime. Try taking a pitcher of water and cut up lemon slices and cucumber slices and put them in there. Refridgerate it over night. It is a very healthy and refreshing drink!

I will try that. Thanks!

I hate drinking water too but I love green tea and Lipton has these green teas packs (as well as several other flavors) that you add to water for flavor. Helps me get my water for the day with some flavor. That's one suggestion for you.

Good luck!

I love green tea too, but it does have caffiene.  So I drink peppermint tea, both hot and iced.

Actually, I wouldn't say there is anything "wrong" with it, but it may cause a problem down the line.  Propel is sports water so it has things in it that regular flavored water doesn't.  Like lots of sodium.  This may cause problems later on in your pregnancy.  If you start to notice swelling I would immediately cut out the propel.

Avoid much caffiene, and always be sure to read the label.  If it has high-fructose corn syrup, don't drink it.  (That stuff is awful for you any time and worse during pregnancy.  It is even suspected to encourage diabetes.)  Otherwise, anything with liquid in it is fair game.  My nurse told me as long as it is liquid (with the caveats being caffiene and sugar) to go for it -- sparkling water, milk, tomato juice, non-caffienated tea (you can even do iced tea if you make it at home and sweeten it with not massive amounts of sugar).  She said "Don't punish yourself, drink what you like, just not sodas and not coffee."  Good luck!

my doc said water for the 64 oz
I am tiny too
I asked if anything else was Ok he said no
He said definetly not things that mess with your electrolytes (like propel)
plus does propel have artificial sweetner???

BUt I am with you at this stage in my pregnancy I can not drink that much water - my stomach just recoils!

best of luck

I've been feeling the same way...tired of drinking so much water! I drink a lot of chocolate milk (hate plain milk) or strawberry milk, as well as Crystal Light orange drink mix, which is a good source of calcium.
But I also have sweet tea and Coke sometimes, too. (I did buy the decaf tea bags, though)
