Dying to tell someone.....

Dying to tell someone.....

My recent history includes 1 blighted ovum in March and a d&c in May. No one knows that we plan on ttc after my next period which will be 2 weeks from tomorrorw. I have a 28 day cycle. Today is day 13(13 days since lmp). I have noticed an increase in CM today. Is this before, during, or after "o." Next month when this happens, when should I begin bd for optimum results? I didn't chart all of this with my previous pregnancies, I just quit the pill and had fun!!! Also, I am still on the pill so that we can control conception time, when do I stop pills in this cycle. I was thinking that I will not start a new pack after this cycle. Sorry for the long post and multiple questions, but I had to let the secret out to someone! It was driving me nuts! Thanks in advance for the comments!

Stop when you get to the inactive pills.  Good luck.

candie i believe you should be off the pill for  a bit of time before you try to concieve (conceive) and i know someone that has more info will respond. you are doing this to regulate what? you dont ovulate on the pill  so how does this help with that? id get off the pill (hopefully you have talked to your md about this)i wish you the best of luck im baby making but i think using the pill for a month here and there cant be good for your cycle. i know someone on here will answer you as i have not really done that lol. best wishes and baby dust

You can actually stop them now. You might spot some, but then again you might ovulate. That's why in the pamphlet it says if you miss 2 or more pills in the 2nd week you should start a new pack. You're going to have a bit of cramping as well after stopping the pill. Your body's going thru withdrawal.

As for the cm, it doesn't mean much when you're on the pill. CM is a factor that tells you when you're ovulating, but you're on the pill so you're not ovulating. You can either wait until you get your next AF, or it might come early if you quit the pills now.

I would wait until your placebo pills, have your period as scheduled, and then ttc.

If you stop your pills mid-pack, then I bet you'll just be right back here saying that your cycle is messed up and you're not sure when the next period should be, and you'll be as confused as ever (which, who wouldn't be?)

Just save yourself the guesswork and stress.  Then you can be much more confident of your approximate O time and when you can begin to test, etc.

Good luck and baby dust!!!!

I got off the pill in January and tried to conceive for the first time in April.  I don't think it's a big deal that you aren't waiting 3 months (like most doctors suggest) but you might have a harder time conceiving if you don't.  You need to regulate your body off the pill.  I did that and realized I have 30 day cycles, not 28.  That helped me to calculate O.  I wish you the best of luck!

I just wanted to say that I was on the pill for years and years and on supression therapy where I continued a new pack instead of taking the placebo pills so I would never get my period.  I did this because of endometriosis.
It's up to you and your dr but it is very possible to get pregnant in the middle of a pack and right away.  I stopped the pill mid-pack, had some slight bleeding and became pregnant within a few weeks.  I realize I'm not the norm but it is possible.
Good luck.

the only reason why I said that you can stop taking the pills now is look at how many people get pregnant by forgetting their pills.

I conceived my DD while on the pill, didn't miss one pill either. I got pregnant again on the pill when she was 1yr old. I had a lot of breakthrough bleeding and I ovulated after one of those episodes. I was taking a low dose pill, which I need a higher dose. I started taking them 8 years ago, but gained some weight. Now they're coming out with studies that people who are 20 pounds overweight should not take a low dose pill. Go figure.

Well congrats on making the decision to conceive!!  I've heard it's best to wait a couple months so your cycle is stable and it's easier for doctors to pin point the due date, etc.  However, I started trying to conceive immediately after finishing my last active pill and I was pregnant the next month.  We have it pinned down to the day because I have very regular periods and I was on a 28 day cycle from the birth control.  There is no evidence that would indicate any health risks to conceiving immediately after (or even while still) taking birth control.  Best wishes to you!!

Thanks for the comments, every little bit of info or story really helps! We discussed waiting the recommended 3 months before ttc after the d&c. I have been on the pill regularly since the d&c in May. We decided to stay on the pill through August so that we did not become pregnant before my third period post d&c (expected 8/18/2006). If I became pregnant now, I would be approximately 39 1/2 weeks at the date of the wedding...Too Close! We plan to finish this pack of pills then ttc on "o" dates.

Is it your wedding or someone else's?!  My sister was pregnant at my wedding and they were able to alter her dress the week of the wedding, also, another bridesmaid had just had her baby a few months before my wedding.  I think it's cute to have pregnant women around, they always make people smile!  If it's your wedding, may want to bump the date up in case you go earlier, plus you don't want to be miserable on your wedding night.  Good luck!

Yeah, no, it's no big deal.  I wasn't trying to get down on you or anything, and I do understand where you were coming from.

It was just that there are so many people that come here asking what to do after stopping their pills mid-cycle, that it's just better to wait those two extra weeks and then be confident of the cycle times.    :-)

That's okay!  I think it'll be okay, your friends will understand and be supportive, plus you'll get to get all dressed up when you feel huge, helps you feel better.  Good luck!  I got pregnant with my son while I was on the pill, he was just fine.  I think the 3 month thing is to make sure you get it all out of your system, sometimes it can take awhile after you get off of the pill, but some people get pregnant right away, and the pill doesn't hurt the baby, although it is best to stop if you are trying.  Hope you get a bfp soon.

Of course you CAN stop the pill at any time, but it makes more sense to stop when you are going to get your period anyway.  As JJety pointed out, so many women are here with continued bleeding and spotting after stopping pills mid cycle.  Why do it?  Keeping in tune with your natural cycle is almost always best.
