THEY ARE TRYIN TO FIND OUT WHY INT HE WORLD HE IS GETTIN SO MANY . HE HAS BEEN TO THE ENT DR LAST WEEK. AND TO HIS PED DR AND AGAIN TODAY ONLY TO HAVE IT IN THE OTHER EAR SO NOW A DIFFERENT MEDICINE. HE IS BEING SENT TO AN ALLERGIST DR ON THE 28TH OF THIS MONTH AS I WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THEY DONT KNOW WHY I WANT THEM TO FIND OUT WHY .... I WISH UR THE BEST AS THEY CAN BE A PAIN IN THE BUTT FOR SOME KIDS....
Do they make sure the ear infection is cleared up before they diagnose him with another. There are I think 4 antibiotics that they should rotate so that he doesnt build his immunity to any one antibiotic. Some antibiotics dont clear up certain ear infections. If they are recurring after being totally clear it is different than not clearing up and then it still being there. We had a ton of ear infections right in a row when our daughter was about 5 months to about 11 months, they wanted to put tubes in but they werent checking them after the antibiotics, turns out only the shots (I forget the name, rocephin maybe) cleared it up, and once they were clear, she didnt get anymore. Thats not always the case, but make sure they are checking after the course of antibiotics.
Also, I followed the old wives tale about sweet oil, dont know if it actually worked or not, but she didnt get any more ear infections.
3 infections typically doesn't warrant having tubes put in the ears. I'm pretty sure here in canada a child needs to have at least 8 infections in a year to be recommended for tubes.
they had been checking him i think about 4 weeks (this time its 6 weeks) afterwards and it has cleared up they said. this is his 3rd ear infection, and the last one was last month! and he has had three different medications. she said i will give him a stronger type of antibiotic. but all these ear infections are worrysome. my mom said i didnt have them like this and hardly had any!
