Early Ultrasound - When to expect fetal pole and heartbeat

Early Ultrasound - When to expect fetal pole and heartbeat

I am approximtley 6 weeks along (give or take a few days).  I went for my first vaginal ultrasound today.  The tech saw the gestational sac and the yolk sac, but no fetal pole or heartbeat.  She said both of the things she saw were the right size for how far along I am.  I have to wait almost two weeks for my next ultrasound, and I'm very nervous given 4 prior miscarriages.  I haven't had any bleeding or cramping so far, and they haven't been checking my HCG levels.  When did you see the fetal pole/hearbeat for the first time?

HI! I had a vaginal ultrasound done at 5 1/2 weeks and could not detect the fetal pole but a week later at 6 1/2 weeks we saw the fetal pole and heartbeat- we brought home a few ultrasound pics that day- it was so exciting!! I'm now 17 weeks  and everything is looking wonderful- so good luck to you!! Your next ultrasound will be so exciting!! Keep us posted!

My doctor said 6w 3d and I've read 6w 4w.  Give it until 7 weeks.  SHould see something by then.  You're right on the border. Mine was not seen at 6w 2d, but was seen at 7w 2d.

My dr. told me when my hcg reached around 10,000 that they could usually see the hb. I'm not sure about this though.

I went today for my 1st u/s.  I'm 6 w, 4-5 days he said.  They could also only see my gestational sac, no hb.  But, they measured the sac and was only 10-13mm (depending on angle) and he said that that was normal and you usually don't see a hb until it's 15mm or more.  And, he said it's different with every person with some at 6w and some after.  He seemed optimistic about everything, said it looked good.  I'm going back in 2 1/2 weeks for my next u/s and all the pregnancy workup so I think you are okay!  I'm going to stay positive about this one (previous m/c) and you should too.  It can only help, right?

Good luck to us both!

On the other hand, I went in at 5w5d, and they saw it all, fetal pole and heartbeat included.  I don't AT ALL want to scare you or make you feel nervous.  I just want you to know that I think it's different all across the board and to have hope, too.  Waiting another week is a good idea, especially because everyone is different.  I will be thinking of you!  Good luck!  Baby dust to us all!

i hope that will help you hang on..though i know its easier said than done....i am on the same boat my dear! i have my next u/s next wednasday. i ll keep you posted...
try to relax and not to think about it a lot...try to get urself busy until ur next u/s...i beleive that helps a little bit.....good luck
