Early pregnancy-bleeding and severe cramps

I took 2 pregnancy tests on Friday, both Positive. We had 2 days of complete excitement. Today (Monday) I woke up and started spotting brown at first (and only when I wiped) and progressed to red/brown throughout the day and turned into a light period on a pad (with severe cramps). I went to the OBGYN they estimated me at 5wks 6 days. My cervix is closed and my lining is thick upon ultrasound but they didn't see anything on the ultrasound-so they think i'm a lot earlier (3-4 wks). I'm being sent for blood work tomorrow and told "if you go through 1 pad an hr for 6 hrs call the office" bc that means you're miscarrying. So here I sit, analyzing every cramp-praying I don't have to pee so I don't have to see more blood being lost. Anyone else relate?

Sometimes women have cramping and brown/red discharge without any cause. The cervical os being closed is a good sign. If the pregnancy is in such initial stages, then the only way to monitor is check bleeding as advised, and blood HCG levels. Rising levels go in favor of continuing pregnancy. Please discuss with your gynecologist whether you may need hormonal support to carry the pregnancy forward.
