Eating too much

Eating too much

I am 25 weeks pregnant and can't seem to stop eating.  I will eat & eat & eat and never get full.  I have tried healthy, carb, sweets just to see if one was satisfying me more than the other and my stomache is still growling.  I have tried eating slowly and chewing up all my food.  I just can't get enough.  Amazingly I have not gained 1 pound this whole pregnancy so where is it going?  Of course, I just started this constant hunger 3 weeks ago.  Please help me if you can!  I can't afford my hunger!!!

I think it's like when a child is growing. They tend to eat more than usual. Maybe your little one is going through a big growth spurt at the moment and needs that exta nutrition. I can't believe you havent gained a pound yet!!! Everyone is different though. Just keep feeding your belly!!! HAHA :o)

Try pushing more water while eating. I have been going through the same thing (last night I was raiding the kitchen and ended up eating an orange, an apple, 2 reeses PB cups, and a bowl of cereal along with 2 bottles of water in a 2 hour period) My dh was laughing hysterically as this is how he always eats, he has super charged metabolism! I just kept telling him tha baby must been really hungry as I am not a big eater generally.

So, my advice is to drink lots of water or maybe throw in a glass of milk in with it and see if it fills you up. Or maximize what you eat, try oatmeal or cream of wheat, both of those are full of nutrition and quite filling.

I have been hungry since about 6 1/2 weeks and still eating like crazy now at 9 weeks.  I didnt gain a pound yet, amazingly.  I think it will go through spurts.  If you are hungry, you probably need the extra calories.  Although they are not great for you, I have found the muffins are the only thing that will keep me from starving within another 2 hours.  Since you have only gained a pound, then I wouldnt worry too much and just eat when hungry.  Make sure to eat alot of protein as that usually holds longer.
good luck!
OH and i know besides the worry about the weight gain< being hungry all the time is extremely annoying and often comes at the most inconvient times making me spend money on food if im out when i normally eat at home>
this too shall pass!

If you are eating too much but not gaining even one pound during pregnancy, that might be a positive sign that your baby is absorbing all the nutrition.Anyway trying to keep a balanced nutrition is always the key of healthy pregnancy.Bottom line is to eat whenever you feel hungry.Just keep yourself hydrated all the time, avoid saturated fat and kick out trans fat.If you do worry about gaining much weight later on you might want to try cucumber or tomato for snacks to get a full feeling. These fruits provide necessary vitamins and hydration at the meantime control your weight.Baby dust to all~~~~~~~

you are so lucky you haven't gained a pound.   Me on the other hand is very concerned about my weight.  I have always been around 120 lbs and I am 16 weeks pg and now weight 132 lbs..  Not sure how I've gained so much weight, i'm eating the same as I used to before I got pg and I am worried sick about this weight problem.  I used to eat very healthy and never went over 120 and now i'm just worried..
Has anybody gone through this, please shed some light this way as I'm afraid to eat now..
your comments are very much appreciated..

Try some heavier foods such as proteins. Milk, Cheese, a little extra meat, beans. These are all healthy foods, but are a little heavier and could possibly help to fill your stomach for longer. I know for me, the carbs seem to go straight through me and I am hungry again real soon. That's not always that great for us pregnant ladies too. If you're not gaining much weight, I'd say go ahead and eat good foods when your hungry. It seems that our bodies have a way of telling us what to do. (Although if you start gaining like 20 pounds a week later on, you may want to curb the food intake a little). A pregnant body works double overtime and needs a lot more to keep it going.

I don't think you have gained too much weight. Each pregnancy has been different for me. Some I have gained alot the first half and almost none the second half and a few of my pregnancies I gained most of it in the end. I think 132 is not bad at all for 16 weeks.

Thanks so much for your quick response.
My sister is pregnant too and she's gained 10 lbs and she's almost six months and i'm just a little behind her and I feel like a pig as i've gained like 11 or 12 lbs already..  I guess i'm just a little scared as i've always been small and i'm only 5'2 and this weight is actually showing on me..
I'll try not to worry, I hope this problem doesn't get too bad..
Thanks again!

I was that way with my 1st pg. I only gained 20 lbs., but I felt like I was eating non-stop. I normally have a very small appetite though, and when I really looked at how much I was eating, it wasn't a ton more than other people. If it helps, at about 8 months, my appetite went way down because there was no room. I would feel like I was starving, but only be able to eat a little.

Please don't worry too much about your weight. I don't think 12 pounds at 16 weeks sounds bad at all. I am also 5'2" and have been the same weight since like middle school (now 28) so it is all new to me too, all this weight gain, but I just remember that our bodies are very different during pregnancy and we are gaining weight for a reason. Your body needs to store up extra fats, produce more blood, not to mention make a growing baby and placenta. Also remember that after you have your baby, the weight will come off, until then, just eat healthy and eat when you're hungry.

Even though carbs burn faster, but I feel so full after a few glasses of water.  I makes me uncomfortable, so I would curb my calorie intake.  I also have a problem with eating too much unless I feel pain.

I'm about almost 22 week 4 days and have gained 14 lbs.  4 of the pounds were from last week.  My friend is 26 weeks exactly and have only gained 10 lbs.  That doesn't bother me, but she tummy is twice as big as mine.  Mine is the same size as 4 weeks ago, but I have gained another 7 pounds since then.  Now the question is, where did all that weight go?  I know people talk about gaining 25 - 35 pounds is normal.  Knowing myself, I don't want to gain more than 25.

Maybe this will make you feel better...I started at 146 and now I'm at 176. That is 30lbs in 28 weeks. I'm a fatso! I go for my glucose test Thursday and a bit worried..If he says no sugar I'll die :)ha haha. I really act devistated over the gain, but, it doesn't keep me from piling it in! Honestly, I didn't think my eating habits had really changed, but, boy, the sweet tooth must be killing me.

I gained a bit of weight early on and continue to now.  I had 12lbs into the second month of pregnancy.  I was/am hungry.  I am now 32wks 5days and have gained a total of 37lbs.  I stand to gain 8lbs more....but who cares.  as long as my baby is healthy I am ok w/ that.  I started out at 115 and I am only 5'4".  there is plenty of time to get back to your normal weight.  you are doing fine.

I went to the Dr. yesterday I am 31.5 weeks pregnant. In the last week my hunger has gone through the roof! Why? I have no clue, but told my Dr, that I wanna eat 2 breakfasts, 2 lunchs, and 2 dinners and snacks, even though I dont that's how I feel. And like you I haven't gained much at all! She said no no no dont eat like that! She told me to eat prtein with every meal, and that will help me stay full. So I'm going to give it a try I guess you can too lol! Good luck I know how it feels ;)

I am also worried about weight gain. I have already gained 5lbs. I am only 6.5 weeks. I am not a very thin person either. I have to keep eating all day other wise I get really sick. I'm only eating saltines and pretzles and stuff, not 8 Big Macs, not even 1. I just don't want to gain like 60lbs. Any suggestions?
