Elective C- Sections?

Elective C- Sections?

Im now 32 weeks pregnant with my second child. Im worried about going through the same problems I had with my first... I had very high blood pressure, which ended in an induction at 37 weeks, I bled way more than I should have, and the cord was around her neck. I was wondering if anyone knows if I could possibly request to have a c-section??? Also, my friend had a baby recently, and she died of bleeding on the brain from pressure on her skull while she was in the birth canal. I understand that the recovery time is alot longer with a cesarean than with a vaginal birth, and there are cons that go along with the pros of it... I just honestly think It would be a better way for me to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know the definitive answer to this, but I suspect you'd have to discuss this with your OB because of insurance concerns.  It costs more $$$ for a c-section.  Since you had a hard time during your last delivery...they could factor that in.

A c-section sucks to be blunt with you it is a longer recovery and is **** like i had a c-section with my first baby and it is different for everyone it really depends on the wellbeing of your unborn baby if its completely neccesary then do it but if not dont put yourself through the extra trouble of healing with any surgery you have to heal and take it easy I just say everybaby is diferent and so is every pregnancy i was 41 weeks when i got induced and i ended up with a c-section and it was painful for me but it was neccesary because my son was breech, his heart was disstressed and i had toxemia as well as failure to progress but i really think u should talk to your doctor about it and take head a mothers instincts are best. Oh and relax your pregnant enjoy this time before you have your baby and congrats and good luck

Are you using the same doctor as you had with the complicated birth? If not, I would let him/her know your concerns and talk to them about doing a c-section. I know my doctor wont do a scheduled elective c-section unless the baby is breach or I'm having complications. I know some doctors will though, so find out if he/she is willing to work with you that way. Good luck and I hope you get the answer you want =)

Thank all you guys for the help. I think i've decided to take it as it comes. lol Plus my O.B. Is a complete @$$. I went to the doctor earlier and im already 2 cm. dilated and 50% effaced. So they told me if I dont go into labor on my own, then in 2 weeks they want me to come back and if im anymore dilated or effaced they will induce me... yay.... lol but im worried now, because im only 32 weeks now and the hospital that im going to be delivering in doesn't have a NICU. So i'll be transported 3 hours away to a different hospital... but If I can make it to 34, i'll be able to stay close to home.
