Embarassing Question

Embarassing Question

I'm currently 19 weeks pregnant, I find out next week what I'm having.  That is just a little background, now for the embarassing part.

For the last 3 weeks I had this really bad cold, it wasn't getting better and over the counter medicine wasn't working, so my OBG prescribed me amoxicillian.  It seems to have worked, I don't cough as much, and my mucus is minimal, however, during the time that I had my bad cough, everytime I would cough I would pee a little in my pants (embarassing).  Now my crotch hurts.  It's not a yeast infection, I've had that before, and it's not inside.  It my labia that are red and inflamed.  Any suggestions on what I can put on them to help calm the irriration.

Thanks, and embarassed. LOL

Don't feel bad I pee when I sneeze, I wear a liner just in case I sneeze.  I am only 24 weeks too I will need a diaper by the time I am 38 weeks.

Since you are taking antibiotics the redness could be a type of yeast - even though it does not seem like it.  They are very common with antibiotics.  Or it could just be irritation from something.

Check with your doctor because any type of anything down there can effect the baby.  :)

I have no idea but let us know when you find out!  The slight incontinence thing is very common during pregnancy -- you're not alone!  I had heavy diascharge last week and my dr said, it was probably mixed with a little pee too and you didn't even know it...  GREAT!

I am 27 weeks and I have been having to wear a panty liner for about a month because of leakage throughout the day.  It really does help alot.  I think that Yeast infections can also burn, mine did, but I was self-diagnosed back in college.  Good luck.  Call your dr there is no reason to be uncomfortable with it, if you can get something to take care of the irritation.  The urine before I wear the liners would irritate my legs, and cause me to be gaulded really bad so I feel your pain.

sounds like a type of yeast but it could also be an irritation from the wetness of the leaking (kinda like a diaper rash) you could ask your dr about using a mild diaper rash cream or ointment for that i know when i was preg and that happened i got a rash as well and i used A&D ointment (diaper rash cream) and it cleared it right up. but do not be embarrassed if u think that is bad I was sleep to awake to think my water had broke but my OB said that the baby can put so much pressure on your bladder that your bladder will just release i could not stop it hold it or anything i seriously thought my water was breaking lol

yep. antibiotics will throw off the balance of everything down there. eating yogurt really helps, but if you already suspect an infection, you better call your doctor, because they can affect a pregnancy if left untreated.
Also be careful what you clean with - I had a blister from, well, not using KY, and I thought using baby wipes would be a good idea, but it made it more irritated I think.

all antibiotics can cause a yeast infection. It it possible to get a yeast infection on the outside of your vagina. Which is what happend to me once after taking antibiotics for a while. you should deffinatley call your doctor and don't try to self treat. hope you feel better soon!

I think lorraine hit it right on the head! I personally recieved yeast infection while I was on amoxillian. Not sure if I was suppose to or not but I used balmex and it really soothed me through out the day until I could get home and be free.

Just talk to my dr., he said the amoxicillian can give me a yeast infection, even though I don't have any discharage, just the itchyness.

He suggested taking Monstat 3 days since I'm past the first trimester.

Thanks all for your feedback.

You could have a yeast infection, it does not always have to be vaginal...Mine have never been, I always get them on the inside of my labia. I use the Monostat 3 ovules, don't use the cream because it burns when you use it vaginally. Also Monstat 3 comes with a small tube of external cream. Put that on the inside of the labia until you stop itching and it isn't red anymore, sometimes that takes a week for it to go away.  Also, wear cotton panties and don't have sex without a condom, you could spead the yeast infection to your partner.

I called my dr a couple of weeks ago b/c of some irritation and was told that even if it wasn't yeast I could use monistat on the outside or nystatin b/c that would help and it did....so, I would call the dr.

Sounds like a yeast infection.  Antibiotics can very easily cause a yeast infection. I would call your doctor.

Hey girl, I'm a pharmacy technician and even though it is not a full blown yeast infection, it most certainly sounds like the beginning symptoms of one.  There are some over-the-counter treatments that are safe during pregnancy.  Check with your doctor!!!
