Ended up having tube removed

Ended up having tube removed

Good afternoon ladies!  I know some of you are familiar with my history, but I'll give a little anyway.  I found out at 6wks that I was going to have a m/c, had a d&c a week later, found out the pregnancy was in my tube and went in for the Methotrexate shot last friday, and wound up in the ER with horrible pain on Sunday.  They did an ultrasound (the first and only one with this pregnancy) and found a 6cm. "mass" near my left overy, but no free fluid around it so I hadn't ruptured.  The on-call doc kept me overnight for observation, and dh and I came to the conclusion that we wanted to have the surgery done to take care of the pregnacy in the tube so we could be done with it, not more waiting and worrying to see what would happen.  Any way, the doc informed us that she thought we made the right choice, that waiting for something that big to go way (after the shot) could have taken 2-3 wks and I would have had pain through most of that time.  When they went in there was abosolutely no way to save the tube, it was too badly damaged- but I still have both overies and my right tube so if we can't get pg again on our own, we will have the option of IVF.  I had the surgery on Tuesday and am sore but feeling much better.  I just wanted to keep everyone up to date on what has been going on with me- this pregnancy is finally over and I can take a deep breath and move on- thank you all for your support and good luck to you.

OMG,I'm so sorry to her what happend.I to had metho. but never had pain & sac was never seen in tubes.I did have to wait  long for metho to take effect.I bled for a mon. after.Glad your feeling o.k.I've heard alot of women get pg with just one tube.I was told that you normally o from 1 tube then the other.Or maybe the same one? With my ectopic I was told that as soon as I get a + to go in that day to get tested to rule out another. After 2 healthy preg. they had no idea why, with this one it was different. But I guess its up to the sac.Did they tell you what was the chance of another ectopic? I was never told so I'm alittle scared to get preg.Ttc till dec-jan.Good luck, hope you fell better& heal fast, emotionally*phis.Nanis

I am so sorry that happened!  But I am glad that the pain will now cease (the physical pain at least).  I'm also so glad to hear you are so positive.  Your post made me smile -- I feel like there is this peacefulness around you.  I feel really good about what the future holds for you.  Good luck!

Hi, I haven't posted in a long time, however, I still check this site daily.  I'm sorry for what you've been going through.  I lost my R. tube in january at the same time as having a cervical ectopic pregnancy.  My tube was scarred and had negative fluid in it.  How it got scarred I have not a clue.  We got pregnant on our own, 4 months later only having one tube.  We lost that pregnancy due to a miscarriage, but we still got pregnant only having one tube.  I just wanted to give you some hope that it can happen for you having one tube.  We are ttc again, and yes i'm concerned with having only one tube and know my chances are cut in 1/2, but i've been told that the other tube compensates and can pick up the egg from the other side.  thats how we got pregnant the second time.  My egg was on my R. side with no tube, and somehow we got pregnant.  If only the pregnancy lasted...  There is still some hope for you before IVF if your not ready for that.

Thank you so much for your comment, I finally feel at peace with the whole situation, I really do.  It's almost strange, but for a while everything was so "up in the air" that it's nice to know where we stand, and what is next.  DH and I have to take a couple of months before we can ttc agian (due to having the methotrexate shot), I think it will be a nice break from it all.  Good luck to you, and thank you again.

Mikeal'smom- I am so sorry that you had to go through this i had same problem i didnt have time to get the shot though and they took my tube and my ovary. I hope that you are ok with everything and good luck ttc in the future

Nanis- Hey there i saw in your comment you asked about the possiblilty of another eptopic, I was told that even though you had the tube removed you are more likely to have one in the other tube she couldnt explain why just that it happens more then normal and if the tube is still there and you get preg through that tube the scar tissue can cause the egg to get stuck. i have also had two healthy pregs previously as well as one natural m/c. It just happens.

Yes, I am pretty sure that we will ttc again.  Unfortuantely, a majority of the time I ovulated from my left side, which is the side missing the tube, but I can only hope that I will ovlulate from the other side now too. If not there are always other options.  Good luck to you- I hope all is well.

I have been through the same thing so I know exactly how you feel. I had surgery for a tubal reversal on 2/15/06, got pregnant that same month! We were so excited. I started having severe abd.pain and started spotting brown about 6 wks into pregnancy. I had an ectopic in my right tube and had surgery and lost that tube.I now have only one tube that measures 3.5cm! I usually ovulate on my right so I was worried I wouldn't be able to conceive again. I got pregnant again in July 06 but it ended at 4wks4d. It has been such a roller coaster ride. We started TTC again this month.I am 9dpo so keep your fingers crossed for me. They say your risk for an ectopic after having one is about 1 in 6 pregnancies but I'm praying for a normal pregnancy that brings a beautiful baby.Good luck to you and never give up hope.

I had my first child in Dec,04. I got pregnant again Aug 06 and was about 7 or 8 weeks when I started bleeding and cramping.  My doctor made me come take blood tests to check HCG level, then 5 days after that I had to have emergency surgery, my left tube ruptured due to ectopic preg.  They removed it, then my doctor changed my pill since I got pregnant while taking it.  I now have started bleeding a little, after I had my period two weeks ago and have some pain on my left side.  I'm just worried something else is going wrong with my body, any ideas.
