Eveing sickness

Eveing sickness

I just was wondering is anyone had some advice on eveing sickness.  I have been starting to feel sick about 4pm and am sick till I go to bed around 2am, I don't work until 1pm so staying up late actully keeps me from getting sick in the mornings.  But when I try to lay down and sleep, I feel like I burp and my stomach gargles for about 2 hours.  It makes it hard to fall asleep.  I usually end up vomiting around 1am or so, just so that my stomach will calm down.  But I burp like crazy. I tried to sleep at an incline and that really didn't help.  I have tried Ginger tablets, and those didn't work.  I eat dinner around 7 or 8pm and it winds up just sitting in my stomach and not digesting which makes getting sick so much funnier.  I will be 10 wks on tues, and so I am hoping this goes away by the second trimester, but ya never know.  Any ideas on what to do in order to calm the burping.  I don't drink a whole lot late, and if I do it usally isn't anything fizzy.  Thanks in advance.

try taking tums maybe? i didnt have a whole lot of sickness in the first trimester...i would get a little nauseas and i had little burps...which for me usually happens right when im about to vomit, but that never happened...what helped keep the nausea at bay was constantly having a little bit of something in my tummy...i never ate a full meal, but i would eat a little bit of breakfast, lunch, dinner and then in between i would munch on something, usually some kind of cracker....good luck! your almost out of the first trimester!! its supposed to subside by the second....

Your whole digestive system slows down during pregnancy.  Eating a big meal -- it WILL just sit there like a lump.  The only way I've been able to avoid killer heartburn is to eat like six or seven tiny meals throughout the day.  And to try to eat my last one early enough that I'm still active enough to have a prayer of digesting it before I lie down.  If not, hello heartburn.

Your digestion is apparently slowed way down meaning many can't handle big meals, fatty meals, spicy meals anymore.  Your gallbladder doesn't act as quickly to dissolve stuff, neither does your stomach enzymes, etc. The many small meals works better for me.  Although sometimes they backfire. When does this usually go away? I can't take much more.

Lately (almost 9 weeks) I find large quantities of liquid, like a cup of tea and some water, (sometimes) without food make me seasick-like. Not so much pain  in the stomach but woozy, nauseous, dizzy, pukey but not puking. If I eat a vitamin pill with this liquid, forget it! I might as well be on a ship pitching in a storm.  Time-wise I get it at like 4am (it wakes me up!) and also around 10 am, sometimes in the afternoon, sometimes after dinner. Usually 9-11 pm is fairly clear. I work 9am-2 pm more or less so I have to be careful in the morning. I lose a lot of productive time.  I keep crackers/cheese in my office, eat a bologna sandwich at 1030 am (gross, I know), eat soup at like 330-400 pm, dinner (small not usually what my family eats) at like 7 pm, and some almonds and cereal in the morning. Sometimes I am hungrier but the more I eat the sicker I get.  Sometimes I have to eat a bowl of cereal in the middle of the night.  I gave up for a few weeks on healthy food (it makes me sick, ie eggs and veggies but I love juice and toast and peanut butter). I just want to be able to eat again and am hoping the vitamins cover it for the baby, cause I can't get anything normal down.

i had nausea and vomitting 24/7 and my dr prescibed diclectin-it is safe to take during pregancy.now thatis only for nausea it sounds like you are descibing indigestion-the previous suggestions are good ones frequent small eals-and try to sit up for a little whiel after you eat ,this will promote digestion.good luck i know it is really hard time but it will pass i asssure you-i am now 18 weeks and have been nausea free for about 3 weeks-lets hope it continues.

That's **** about the gender (sorry - no offence to the poster). I have had 2 boys and a girl and every pregnancy was practically identical with regards to morning/evening sickness. This is my 4th baby and at nearly 11 weeks I can tell you this is the first time I am not as sick as the others. But I still feel nauseaus and get sick in the mornings. I tend to feel more sick when I'm tired and I cannot keep my eyes open past 9.30pm so I don't know how you are able to stay awake so late! I know if I did I would also be puking my guts up at that hour! Try and get some earlier sleep and snack on dry crackers or pineapple pieces - they've helped take the nausea away for me sometimes...ginger never bloody worked LOL!

Wow, you must have the late shift at work.  I know that when I work later it makes it worse for me.  Also the more tired I am the worse it is.  I get sick in the morning around noon and the evening well into the night.  I find it best to lay down in a dark quiet room, but everyone's different.  Hope it passes soon.

I had naseau but am proud to say I only vomited once throughout this pregnancy.  The key is drink lots of fluids and eat something small every 1 1/2 - 2 hours.  Small bland things.  It helped me.  Also if you are sick in the evening, sleep with your head elevated on more than one pillow.  This will help not only with indigestion, but also some of the queeziness.

Good luck, it should pass soon and then you will be eating like a lumberjack!

Thanks girls, Yeah i have crazy hours, it's an alright job other then that i don't hardly ever work a full 8 but get paid for it.  I am a night person, I am posting at 2:40am.  I don't do mornings at all.  I actully was tired the other day around 8:30pm so I thought I'll go to bed, worst mistake ever i woke up puking my guts out at 6am, and it didn't stop all day.  So I figure it's a good excuse to stay up late and sleep in.  I go to work about 1pm.  But anyways thanks for the ideas, I asked my nurse the other day if I was dehydrated from puking because my eyes felt so dry that day, and I wear glasses not contacts.  So I know it wasn't that, but the next day I felt fine she she told me no big deal.  I don't care if we have a boy or a girl, but I think I would relate better to a boy, I am pure tomboy.  And I am not girly at all, I don't do pink.  But I do like doll houses and barbies, so I guess I would survive.  But my mil is so into beuty pagents and stuff, and I am like yuck, so i hope if it is a girl, she isn't to girly, or we won't be interested in to many of the same things.  We are big agriculture people so I hope she grows up to be a farm girl.  Not to prissy (no offence just not my style).  I have friends that are and they drive me nuts with some of the things they worry about.  Anyways, thanks again for ideas, and I'll try them out.  I love food so it's so hard to be so sick and salad makes my hurl when I even think about it, after a nasty vomiting eposide, so healthy food ewwww right now.  I have to admit i am also not taking my prenatels everyday, if i feel bad, do you guys think I should even if I think I am going to be sick.  I was just wondering.  Thanks again.

Yes...take the pre-natal vitamins regardless of if you throw up or not as a lot of will be absorbed by the body beforehand. I wouldn't risk it as at least if you're taking them and throwing up your body is receiving some nutrients! Good luck with the nausea and hey...at least you know that everything's ok with the pregnancy whilst you're sick...it's a good indication of a healthy pregnancy so they say!

Hi,

You must be enjoying your motherhood. Congratulations!
I am expecting my baby around october and while I was reading different blogs I read your. Your symptoms are just same what I am having, evening sickness starts at 4 pm. Could you tell me whether you delivered a boy or girl? how long the evening sickness stayed?

thanx
