Excesive fetal movement

Excesive fetal movement

Helo, I am about 7 monts pregnant, and from what I've read fetal movement should decrease as it runs out of space. But my baby doesn't seem to be aware of this, she moves a lot!!, sometimes I feel pain. My doctor says everything is normal, is it?

Hi there! Yes, it is completely normal! I am 39 weeks and I have had a VERY active baby from the start. My OB says that some babies are more active than others, and there's more concern when you CAN'T feel the baby move often. If the baby seems frantic and does not stop moving for several hours on end with no let-up, then you may want to call your OB just to make sure the baby is not in distress. My baby goes crazy for sometimes an hour at a time, then it seems they just fall asleep! Every baby in utero has periods of active wakefulness and rest.

If the OB says it's normal - believe it. More concern is given to those babies who are extremely inactive. Sounds like you have a healthy, thriving baby in there!! Good luck to you!

My baby did the same thing and she is a happy & healthy almost 2 month old. I know the movement makes it harder to rest ! BTW- When I was preggers someone told me that if you feel all that movement towards the end the baby isn't that big ... Maura was 7lbs 8oz 20-1/2" . She wasn't big by any means but wasn't exactly small. So much for that theory.

My daughter was very active as well, even in the latest stages of pregnancy.  Sometimes I thought she was frantic she was so active, and it worried me.  (What doesn't worry pregnant mothers!?!)  Now that she's here and nearly 7 months old, I am noticing a continuation of the activity patterns ie. she won't sit still ;-)

I'm almost 34 weeks, and this baby is wild! She must be doing some synchronized swimming in there or something. Especially when I am trying to sleep!  Enjoy it-- even though is does get annoying :)
