I don't have any suggestions for you that may help, but I just want to wish you the best. You should stay possitive, if it is meant to happen it will. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope it all works out for you. Keep us posted as to how you are doing. Has the doctor given any suggestions as to what you can do? They haven't told you that it can't happen did they? Well, like I said I will pray that all works out for you this must be one of the hardest times.
Oh sweetie, there is no need to get down on yourself....many people with that disease have healthy children everyday...from personal experience, diabetes runs in my family (my father has it and so does my paternal gm)...so when i was pregnant with my second son, i had got gestational diabetes..i was on insulin twice a day and i had to stick myself 7 times a day. my son was born with jaundice at 7lbs, 8oz. he is now a very active, healthy 2 yr old. so please, do not get down, start ttc and make sure you stick to your diet....
btw, i to suffered a m/c this year (april 23rd). i was 8weeks along when it happend and this is our first month of ttc since it....Good luck to you
I have had type 1 diabetes since I was 17 ( I am now 25) I am on an insulin pump and try to test my blood sugar about 5-8 times a day. I have had the same fears and worries that you are having right now. But I have done a ton of research and talked to a diabetic nurse practitioner who focuses only on pregnant women and I feel much better now. Do you know what your hemoglobin A1C is? They like it to be less than 7 before getting pregnant and you should try and keep your sugars less than 150 or so. They said the outcomes are usually no different from a non diabetic if you can get close to these goals! Are you on an insulin pump or do you take shots? I have recently switched to the pump and it has helped me regulate myself so much. They say that even diabetics who are way out of control still have healthy babies 75% of the time, so imagine how much better our chances are if we try our best to take care of ourselves! It sounds like we have a lot in common. I also suffered a miscarriage 3 1/2 weeks ago with my first baby. I was 6 weeks along.. It has been very difficult but my doctor assures me that it is in no way r/t to my diabetes because my A1C was only 6.2. I am ready to try again as well. She suggested I wait 8 weeks, but said it would be ok if I got pregnant earlier than that. I am still anxiously waiting for my first cycle though. I look forward to keeping in touch with you as we share this struggle together. I will keep you in my prayers.
I FIRST OF ALL WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU WHO GAVE ME ENCOURAGEMET. I FELT A LOT BETTER AFTER READING YOUR WORDS AND I FEEL LIKE YOU ARE MY FAMILY AWAY FROM MY FAMILY. :) I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR A NEW OB/GYN. I FEEL THAT MY DOCTOR KIND OF BLOWS ME OFF AND I HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE EDUCATION ON DIABETES AND PREGNACNY THAT I SHOULD HAVE. I WILL KEEP YOU GUYS POSTED ON WHAT IS GOING ON. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE ARE GOING TO START TTC IN AUGUST. THANKS FOR THE PRAYERS. TO BETHANNE I GIVE MYSELF SHOTS TWICE A DAY. I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE PUMP(MY DOCTOR HAS NEVER SUGGESTED THAT I USE IT) IS IT BETTER. PLEASE E-MAIL ME SO THAT WE CAN TALK. I ALSO FEEL THAT WE HAVE A LOT IN COMMON. MY M/C WAS AT 7 WEEKS AND THE DOCTOR SAID IT WASN'T BECAUSE OF DIABETES. HERE IS MY ADDRESS ***@****
I am 34 years old and have had Type 1 diabetes since I was six years old. I waited to have my first child until I was 30. I suffered one miscarriage, but then had a healthy 8 lb. 13 oz. baby boy. I had two miscarriages before my next baby, but gave birth to my second son in December. He was 3 weeks early and much larger (10 lbs. 2 oz), but is doing very well. I had c-sections with both....the first was breach. My doctor told me birth weight would probably increase with each pregnancy. I tested many, many times a day...before meals and an hour and a half after meals (and any other time I thought I felt different as I tend to obsess over my Bg. readings! )and tried to keep my Bgs. below 100 in the mornings, below 120 before meals and below 140 after meals. It is hard work, but well worth the effort. I took multiple injections during my first pregnancy and was on a pump during my second pregnancy (my choice). I am now back on multiple injections for a while only because I need a pump break. (I tired of having things hanging off of me, but I do like the pump.) Pregnancy is very possible. When you do become pregnant be very aware of your Bgs...particualry in the first trimester. I found that mine could drop into the 20's without symptoms and actually passed out in a Wendy's parking lot during my second pregnancy. I had enough senses about me to down a coke before it happened so everything worked out without an emergency room visit, but it was very scary for me. I was by myself and in my car. Keep your chin up...it is possible....I am anxious to hear from you. Good luck!
I WANT TO TELL YOU THANKS SO MUCH FOR TELLING ME ABOUT YOUR SITUATION. IT IS NICE TO KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO HAS TYPE 1 DIABETES AND HAS HEALTHY KIDS.:) YOU HAVE TRULY GIVEN ME A LOT OF HOPE. WHEN YOU HAD YOUR MISCARRIAGE DID YOU HAVE TO GET A D&C? IF SO HOW LONG DID YOU WAIT BEFORE TRYING. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE VERY ANXIOUS ABOUT TRYING AGAIN, BUT WE WERE SCARED AT THE SAME TIME. I WILL BE SURE TO LET YOU KNOW HOW THINGS GO WITH ME. I AM HOPING I AM PG NOW, NO SYMPTOMS THOUGH. JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE. WRITE BACK I LOOK FORWARD TO TALKING TO YOU.
