Follicle stimulating hormone.  You should be able to find a great deal about it.

FSH stands for follicle stimulating hormone...I believe it surges right before ovulation and is an indication that you have ovulated.

I also believe they check levels on between days 19-21 or 22 (double check with your doc) and normally check FSH, LH and progesterone -- possibly even some thyroid (TSH, etc.).  The levels at this point in your cycle indicate if your body is doing what it is supposed to -- ovulating and that progesterone levels are rising appropriately.

Someone else will probably give you some really good info...just wanted to give you some other terms to start googling...

Here's a very short explaination from the menopause doctor right here on Medhelp.

they dont check the levels on days 19-21..they have to check the levels on day 3.  Mine was elevated at a 13..may be why I've had to m/c...I'm now 17 weeks along!

Hi...yes, if you are just checking FSH it is done on day 3 of your cycle.

But progesterone is on day 21 (of a 28 day cycle -- or 7 days before your AF).  When my doc checked my progesterone on day 21, she also checked FSH, LH and thyroid.

Sorry if I was confusing...thought maybe you were looking to see if you ovulated.

Best of luck!
