She also she said I have tilted uterus? What does that mean, is there problems if you have this.No one every said that to me when I had my other kids.
Also, I am 34, with 3 children already-12 years ago-no problems at all with them. I never have problem conceiving, just maintaining pregnacies.
I dont know what F S H is but i have a tilted uterus and had one m/c and 1 DD and a boy on the way from my understanding tilted uterus isnt a prob.Good luck
What is follicle stimulating hormone?
Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is a substance produced by the brain, specifically from the anterior pituitary gland. In women, FSH stimulates the maturation of follicles (eggs) and hormone production in the ovary. In men, FSH stimulates the production of sperm and male hormones in the testes.
What is a FSH test and what can it reveal?
An FSH test is a blood test that may be used in combination with other tests to diagnose reproductive problems in both men and women such as low sperm counts and the absence of menses. The test also may be used to investigate pituitary disorders, delayed or early puberty, and menopause. A low FSH level might indicate a problem with the pituitary or hypothalamus (another area in the brain), whereas a high FSH level indicates a problem with the testes or ovaries themselves.
In women, the FSH level is determined from a blood sample taken on day 3 of the menstrual period. Fertility specialists generally agree that FSH levels over 10 to 15 mIU/ml (depending on the laboratory) indicate diminished fertility, with higher levels indicating even more difficulty becoming pregnant and carrying a healthy baby to term.
I would ask for a recurrent miscarriage panel. This is something that is usually done after 2-3 miscarriages. A detailed list can be googled online. You could also ask the doctor on this site about these tests for more info. This panel involves a bunch of blood tests to check for blood clotting issues and hormonal problems. When they did mine, they took approximately 8-10 vials of blood. It takes approximately two weeks to get the results. If your first children are not from the same partner you are ttc with now, you might also seek to have him karyotyped (check his chromosomes). I would think you would check out all right because you already have children and I assume no other mcs before these two. If you are with the same partner, you could eliminate the karyotyping for him (again because you all ready have kids together).
I don't know why your doctor would ask for a fsh level. Fsh indicates the ovarian reserve number. Anything under 10 is considered "normal", 11-13 is considered diminished reserve, and 13-17 is considered marked diminished reserve. All this should tell you how many eggs you have in your reserves (this is with the theory that women are born with all of the eggs they will have in their lifetime). This number has nothing to do with egg quality (which you doc may feel is a factor for the two mcs). So again, I am not sure why she would want it unless she is thinking that you should get more aggressive to get and stay pregnant.
I am sorry about your losses and I hope you find success soon. Good luck.
This is what the FSH test will show.
