Failed Glucose Test / Questions

Okay, I had the 1 hour Glucose Tolerance Test today at my check-up. My result was 152. She did not tell me what the normal range is, just that it was high. I go back Monday for the 3 hour test. Anyone know what the normal range is? Also, they told me I did not have to fast first, and I had a sandwich about 45 minutes before the orange drink. Does anyone think that would have had a real effect?
I am somewhat concerned mainly because I have had constant yeast infections for over 3 months. I know high blood sugar can bea cause. I have to do a 7 day treatment now, because the 1 day, and 3 day were not efective enough.
Other than that, everything still seems good. Cervix is long, firm, and closed.
When did your Dr. have you come in every 2 weeks? I am 26 1/2 weeks, and he wants me to come every 2 weeks now. I was wondering if that is typical, or if he is just watching me more closely because of my high risk history.

I failed my tested 2 yrs ago with my DD. I had to take the 3hr test and ended up passing. I understand that failing the 1 hr. test is fairly common. THe sandwich before I think could have caused a problem.. I was told to fast before mine. Anyway, good luck.

I think the sandwich probably did it.  They never told me either to fast so I ate something as well before my test.  But when I did my 3 hr test I failed that as well so now I'm on a special diet that reduces the carbos I am taking but it is actually not too bad.  Now that I'm on this diet they tell me to do blood monitoring of glucose levels 2 hrs after eating.  Your glucose levels are to return to normal levels after 2 hrs of eating so I'm pretty sure for yourself the sandwich elevated those levels right before your test.  A lot of people fail the first test and pass the second though.

The range for the one hour should be 140 or under.

yes, under 140. When you have GD they make you check your values 1 hour after you start eating since that's when you have your highest values (for most foods). If you had the sugardrink when you were at your highest it definitely screws up your results!

Oh also I did not fast before mine and ate about 30 mins beforehand and passed with a level of 102.
They do not want you to fast with the 1 hour but it is required for the 3 hour.

They normally dont start seeing you every 2 weeks until you hit about 34 weeks.. so it must be because of your complicated history.
The sandwich most definately effected your results or you have GD.  I had my glucose test over a week and a half ago and i heard nothing in regards to my passing/failing so i am assuming i passed.  I have my 29 week check tonight so we shall see..

Have a great day

has anyone had this test early on in their pg? I'm 12/13 weeks, and the dr's had me do this yesterday. My dad and his mom are both diabetic, and I'm overweight, which all puts me at risk.

I didn't know if I still had to do the same test again when I'm further along (when you're supposed to)

I have my test done tomorrow and I am a alittle nervous. I am not gonna eat anything for about 2 hours before my test.
I think it depends on where you live or what doctor on when you start going every two weeks. I have heard all different answers to this question.
Like Baby4staci says at 34 weeks but all the patients that my doctor see start going every two weeks at 26 weeks. then every week at 34 weeks. I guess it all depends.
don't worry though, everything will work out right!!!
