Feed my wife, please!

Ladies please give me a hand.

My wife is 16 weeks for those keeping track.

I guess she has to start increasing her calories during this trimester, and she has gained about 4-6lbs (dont want to ask for exact numbers) through the 1st trimester.

She used to like chicken, and turkey, and steak, and now.....

She doesnt want to eat anything...SHe likes to snack but an actual meal she hates the idea of everything that we have in the house, or that we can go out and get to eat...So that pretty much encompasses everything....Any hints on some menus, or key foods....I told her I dont care what she wants to eat but that she just has to eat....

As long as she eats..
Probably smaller meals more frequently are better anyway.Only she can tell you what she prefers. Some who have morning sickness cant keep much down..I never had that problem
Is she throwing up? or just nauseas?
It also might change again and she'll start having cravings for something Mine was canned spagetti! Now I cant stand it!

ok- here's an idea... and its only because I crave them all the time- Dole Fruit and Juice Popsicles. They are made out of fruit juice so they are good for you, and the cold seems to sooth a "nervous" stomach... they seemed to help "jumpstart" my appetite when I wasn't really wanting to eat. salads work really well too.. pretty much anything light

i noticed the other day they have ensure for pregnant women, maybe she could try drinking one of those a day to add some calories to her diet.

What does she like to snack on?  If you see a trend in her snack preferences, maybe you can make sure she gets some nutritious food with the same idea.

I wouldn't worry too much.  As long as she is eating, and it's good food, and she is taking her supplements, she will come around sooner or later.  Her body will make her eat and her appetite will probably increase soon.  Nature has its way of taking care of things.

My advice is to invest in some Boost energy drinks. I swear that is what got me through my last pregnancy. I was so sick with Tristan I couldn't keep anything down and the only thing I could stomach and keep down half the time was Boost.

I used to snack all day long. Small meals/snacks are better, too much at one sitting just made me feel bloated.  I loved eating crackers with cheese, salami, ham, egg salad, etc.  Triscuits are the best.  Popcorn, trail mix, soy beans, dried fruit, all of these are good, oh and fresh veggies and dip (ranch).   I would pack a small cooler to work and eat all day long.  Tell her this is her only chance to eat all she wants and not be judged by our weight conscious society.  Good luck.

If she is anything like me it is not that she is sick or feeling bad but everything she sees looks gross and unappitizing. I am also 16 weeks and this has been going on for about 2 weeks now.

I too was like that I have lost weight with all my babies (4th due in Nov).  By the end of my pregnanies I'll only gain between 10 and 15 pounds.  A lot of weight gain depends on pre-pregnancy weight.  Now that I am in my 6th month I am hungry all the time but still only eats small amounts due to that all my growing body can hold.  Then about an hr later I am ready to eat again, and the things that use to make me ill just the thought of or the smell of things would really turn my stomach, well it just doesn't bother me anymore.

I'll bet the Dr is keeping an eye on her weight and if he/she thought there was a problem they would speak up.

As long as she eats. I was like like during my first tri-mester. I used to eat a lot! I was in love with food, and also I love to cook...my first tri-mester was horrible! I don't like the smell of garlic, onions, and EVERYTHING..but i started eating again as i began my 2nd tri-mester..
good luck!!

Boost is great.

Just keep things simple and plain.  Small amounts of good foods will really provide what she needs--pregnant women can get by on less than you think.

Her eating habits may change in a few weeks, and it could be Katie-bar-the-door in regards to food.

If not, she should count her blessings!
