Fetal Kicks - Does the intensity matter?

Fetal Kicks - Does the intensity matter?

Hello All,

I noticed that my baby girl is still kicking but that the strength seems to have gone down in the last day or so. Is this normal?
Should I be concerned? Should I request and U/S. She is kicking but they seem a wee bit lighter in strength. Could this be a sign of distress? Any feedback would be appreciated. I'm currently
26 weeks and 2 days.

A decrease in intensity does matter, but I don't think you should get worried if it's only been 1 day.  If it continues to be less intense for a week straight then definitely call the doctor.

My DD loved to freak me out by not moving at all for two or three days in a row.  I would think that something's wrong and no matter what I did, she just wouldn't move, let alone kick.  I would assume that depending on where the baby is, you feel the kicks more intense some days than others.  Sometimes the fluid and the placenta absorb most of the intensity (that was my dr's explanation for my DD's behavior).  It's not that she didn't kick or move, it's just I didn't feel it as intense.

I jusy left my docs office with the answer to your question, NO it doesn't matter as long as the baby is moving she is fine, i'm 31 weeks and have felt the same thing, he still moving just not as strong as he had been, my doc said it's perfectly fine, but to be on the safe saide it is worth a mention to your doc...God bless and baby dust to us all

i dont think the strength matters... its probably more a factor of where the baby is and how many other organs she's hiding underneath. i get the same thing.. a few days of LOTS of movement, then a few days of almost nothing.

Thanks ladies.

I do have a doppler, so I know she is in there and moving.
I will ask my doc for sure. Today, I will say here kicks have been stronger. :)

Gosh, why is this such an emotinal roller coaster?
