Fetal heartrate at six weeks

by gml24, Jul 14, 2006 12:00AM
Hi everyone.  I have been worried about something and unable to find a consistent answer on the internet.  At my ultrasound at six weeks, 1 day they found a fetal heartrate, but it was only 118.  The tech didn't say anything about it and I haven't talked to my doctor so I don't know if this is a cause for concern.  Everything I can find on the internet says the average is 120-160 and I don't know if it being 2 under is a big deal or not.  Can anyone tell me what their fetal heart rates were at their ultrasounds?

I had an ultrasound this early because I was having cramping, but no bleeding, which has now gone away.

I would say as long as the tech did not report anything abnormal to your dr and they have not called you to come in right away, I would say that at this stage you are fine.  The baby could be resting which would make it low--I don't know how your heart rate affects the babies when the fetus is so little. Relax and enjoy your pg.  No matter how much science improves--babies are still miracles that will never totally be understood.

At my first ultrasound, they dated me at 5wks, 5 days with a heart rate of 109. The tech said that was fine. When I had my second ultrasound I was measuring 10wks and the heart rate was 181. I don't think it should be something to be concerned about unless your Dr. says something.

mine at 5 weeks was 115.  And that is normal anything over a 100 at this stage of the game

I think that everything above 100 is good enough.

As early as you are, you baby's hb sounds fine.  It should go up to the 120-160 range at your next appt.

it's good to hear some of you have also had lower fetal heart rates in the beginning and had things turn out fine, I guess it is true that the doctor would call me if there was anything to worry about, right?  Thank you so much for your help

I went in at 7 weeks because of spotting and the heartbeat was 93. They told me they thought I was just 6 weeks actually. I carried the little girl to term and she is a healthy 7 yr old now.

It sounds fine to me. It will speed up more.
