Fetal movements

Fetal movements

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and have a really active baby. I feel a lot of movements on most days and even on the quieter days, my baby's very active after I've had something to eat or when I'm sleeping at night. I havent felt much movement since last night, just the ocassional kick and that too was softer than I normally feel. I have read that babies are not necessarily as active every single day but I had an early miscarriage before this pregnancy so even the smallest change makes me worried. Is it OK to see some slow down in activity? Should I be worried? Really need some reassurance here.

They always tell you if you notice a significant drop in activity to seek a doctor, but for most of us a drop in activity is quite normal. I had some weeks where the baby was extremely active and others where she scared the **** outta me.... especially at the end of my pregnancy she barely moved. After she was born I figured out why she slowed down so much..... she sleeps a lot and I can assume did so in the womb as well.

Thanks. Reassuring to hear that. My bub just started some kicking so I'm feeling a lot better now! I guess its unreasonable to expect them to be active all the time. They're human too so they must be wanting some chill out time too!

Just do kick counts.  As long as the baby kicks 10 times in an hour than you're lil one is ok.  Try it twice a day.  I noticed some days my lil boy was less active than other days.  The further along you get the more they sleep as well.  I'm 33 weeks and they say the baby can sleep from 20-30 minutes throughout the day.  They are getting practice for when they come out.  If you are really worried contact your doctor but I don't think you have to worry.

Kick counts are not relevant until 28wks. Doctors don't recommend trying them until that point because babies are so unpredictable.

That is true, I forgot about that.  You're baby still has plenty of room in there so you won't feel it all the time.
