One of my friends is seven months pregnant and has found today that the foetus does not have heart beat. We are all shocked and we don't know what to do or advise her. Should she go for a second opinion or another ultrasound? The doctor has suggested induced deliveryC-section Delivery presentations Infant care following delivery to take the baby out. Any useful advice on next steps would be appreciated.
I am so sorry. It is a pregnant womanWomen's way's worst nightmare. She certainly is within her rights to have another ultrasound so she can look, and listen, until she is really sure that this sadDepression thing is real. It might take her a little while to know in her heart that it is true. All you can do is be there for her.
There is no sensible alternative but to induce delivery as soon as she comes to grips with the diagnosis.
Some women do want another opinion, just for their own reassurance.
I'm sorry for your friends loss. Its very hard.
