Follicles?

Follicles?

Hi Everyone.
I had a follicular ultrasound today (day 9)to determine a. if the 100mg of clomid is working and b. try and pin point ovulation to increase changes of getting preg.
They informed me that one of the follicles on my right side is 16 (not sure of the unit of measure) and the one on my left side is 13.5.  And there were some smaller ones...not big at all.
Can anyone tell me if 16 and/or 13.5 is good?  And having 2 follicles- is that good?  Or should there be more?
Anyone know?
Would love to have some feedback. Thanks.

To release an egg I think the follicle should measure over 20. Two large follicles are plenty you only need one to release an egg!

No, you will only release one egg per cycle. Your body can tell which egg is mature and that is usually which one it releases. It is rare for more than one egg to be released. But the fact that you have two good growing follicles is a plus. That means double the chance of releasing a mature egg!

thank you so much for the info... I go back on Monday to have another follicular ultrasound to see the progress. Hopefully they will be able to give me the 24 hour window of ovulation.
So I am understanding this correctly...if I have 2 large follicles growing - it would seem that there is a greater chance of two eggs being released... right?

Thanks for the info!
I went in to the doc this morning for more blood tests (to test my hormone levels) and the follicular ultrasound.  Of my two follicules I had growing, one of them stopped growing (the smaller one).  The other one has now grown to 22mm!!  Yippy. So I am responding to the Clomid and now I am waiting for the results of the blood test to find out when ovulation is going to occur!  Hopefully something will happen this time around!  Any other treatments after this- my insurance will not cover. So then it will be decision time!!
