This summer I gave birth to a 30 weeker. He is now 7 months old (actual age) and 4 1/2 months (corrected age). He weighs 13 lbs. What things can I expect him to be doing development wise. When will he roll over, crawl, walk..... I am looking forward to your stories and experience!

I have a daughter named Eden that was born at 32 weeks and she seemed to sleep for the first 2 1/2 months. But other then that she was right on track for all her mile stones and even a bit early for some. she rolled over at close to 3 months. She was cooing by then too. She was sitting up at 5 months and as soon as she sat up she started crawling a few weeks after. She walked at 10 months. she will be 6 years old july 13th (she was born on a friday the 13th) she is the tallest kid in her class she is also the only kid in her class that can already read. She is only in kindergarten. Her teacher is so amazed with her. From what the doc told me almost all premies catch up with all the kids there age by a year old.

Well, it sounds like mine is a little more behind that yours was. He is not yet rolling, sitting, crawling. He just started to lift his head up when he is on his tummy.

I had identical girls born at 28 weeks. They were 2lbs 2ozs and 2lbs. 7ozs. They are now almost 7 months old weighing in at 17 and 18 lbs. They aren't rolling over yet but try to sit up by themselves and can sit supported. They grasp at everything and noe everything is going into their mouths. The teeth are staring to make an appearance and they "talk" and smile all the time. Be patient with your little one. He'll catch up. How is he health wise? Mine are great.

I'm glad he's fine health wise. I know it's hard not to compare your baby with others his "age". I did that with my first set of twins and they were only 4 weeks early. Now I'm just greatful that the the girls are healthy and cute and mine no matter when they do what.

He is doing great health wise. He does not have any known health problem. he gets the synergis shot for RSV... It must be working because he is practically the only kid in our town that is not sick. I know he'll catch up, it just helps to know other preemies out there are waiting to reach milestones.

Its difficult with preemies. All the books in print covering developmental milestones are developed for the full term baby.  It can drive a parent nuts reading where they 'should' be and knowing that they are not. Many of us continue to   beat our heads against a wall.  I have preemie identical twin girls born at 31 weeks.  They are now 6 months actual age, but probably 1 month behind on the average development milestones.  Needless to say, I do  not read the books anymore.  I listen to our pediatrician - who knows the entire story.  Good luck everyone.

Ashtyn was born at 31 weeks, and weighed 3 lbs 15 oz. He is now 7 months actual age and weighs 16 pounds 8 ounces. Ashtyn has been in developmental therapy since he was 2 months old, so as of right now he is rolling all over the place, and pulling himself up to his activities bar in his bouncer and working on sitting very hard. He is not quite sitting on his own but he is getting there. I feel like he will be crawling every soon. He gets both legs going and his arms and I know he will be crawling very soon. However, Ashtyn is behind in languauge. He will make noise and babbles a lot, but has yet to put sounds together....he has only said DA once or twice. Most of his vocalization right now is just noise. We are doing a bunch of testing to see if he has any brain damage, but I hope your little guy faired better than ashtyn did. Good Luck.
