Formula

Formula

My daughter was born a preemie so she is on a high calorie formula.  It is Enfamil 22 calorie/oz.  This is what the hospital started her on so thats what we stayed with...I was unable to breastfeed. I have 2 questions.  One, does anyone have any advice as to how to get her used to a different formula once the high calorie is no longer needed?  And Two, is there a difference between name brand formulas and store brand?  For instance, Enfamil and Target brand?  They look the same on the outside and have the same ingredients, but the consistency of it is totally different.  I am so confused by this!

One way to get your baby over to the normal formula is to start by preparing the bottle with 3/4 high calorie and 1/4 regular. Then after a few days, do 1/2 high calorie and 1/2 regular. Then after a few more days, 1/4 high calorie and 3/4 regular until you are giving completely regular. This way the change is gradual and less noticeable.

As far as the difference between storebrand and name brand, my Dr said there is no difference whatsoever except the name. But now that you mention it, I have noticed the Similac I use occasionally is creamier-looking (the powder in the can) than the Kirkland brand that's it's eqivalent.
